NFL player sits for US National Anthem but stands for Mexico's National Anthem.

What happened to that constitution right of freedom of speech?

Who's preventing anyone from speaking you dunce? However, they don't have speech rights when they are on the field at work. Just like you don't have free speech rights at your place of work. Try it sometime; tell your boss you're going to wear shorts to work from now on regardless of workplace dress code and see where that gets you.

Good for you, but dont ever believe that everyone believes just the way you do. Why isnt the anthem played in a movie theater, or at a play?

No, not good for me, good for we Americans who respect our flag and our country. If you don't believe in this country, why are you here? It doesn't matter where the Anthem is played, as a citizen of this country, you should respect it.

And these "protests" got negative attention and so haven't made a bit of difference when it comes to "social injustice" or "inequities"
I've not seen any positive results at all...nothing but confusion, especially for our young athletes. Just what our young people don't need....more "role models" like the sitters and the kneelers.
Change will come, but not soon, and never because of demonstrations that don't make any sense.
And people who think that Colin Kaepernick is some kind of hero. But don't know who JJ Watt or Glen Coffee are. Real NFL heroes.

I wouldn't expect you to see the difference .. but the really good news is that none of this is about what you do or don't see. Your approval is not required.

‘Constructive’ Talks On Social Issues Held Between NFL Players, Owners

The players’ union and the league issued a joint statement just before the annual fall owners meetings began.

“Today owners and players had a productive meeting focused on how we can work together to promote positive social change and address inequality in our communities,” the statement said. “NFL executives and owners joined NFLPA executives and player leaders to review and discuss plans to utilize our platform to promote equality and effectuate positive change. We agreed that these are common issues and pledged to meet again to continue this work together.

Earlier, outside of the hotel where the owners are meeting, two dozen supporters of Black Lives Matter New York held a rally backing the players for speaking out — particularly former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the anthem last year in protest of racial injustice in America. Demonstrations during the anthem increased when President Donald Trump called the players unpatriotic if they knelt during the anthem, with both players and league executives saying the meaning of the protests has been misconstrued by the president and his supporters.

I'm not interested in what you do or don't know about Kaepernick, not interested in your heroes.

'Change' has been coming for over 400 years, hasn't gotten here yet .. and unbeknownst to pompous right-wingers like you, the ONLY thing that brings about change is DEMAND.

With all due respect, do you know what "my group" is? Unless you do, you don't know if "my group" has done "shit" or not.

You mention mentoring at an at-risk middle school, and community activity. That may be great, if you aren't telling the kids what you're posting here....
Let's see if you can take a guess at what "my side" is. And what my involvement in society an the community is. I'm curious, because you condemn without knowing....shit:)

That's incredibly stupid coming from someone who started this conversation talking about "my group." Would that be some white guy privilege to talk about my group without me talking about yours. Incredibly stupid.

You don't know shit about me and have only been on this site for about 5 minutes, but presume yourself to make idiotic judgements.

I'm not interested in what you do in society given that you weren't intelligent enough to engage in a civil conversation about the issue.

.. and the LAST thing I need or want is some pompous right-wing asshole trying to tell me about what I should be telling young minds that you obviously don't give a fuck about.

Anything else?

A person can respect this country without standing up for a song.

"Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch sat during the majority of the U.S. national anthem, but stood for the Mexican anthem before his team's game Sunday against the New England Patriots at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City."

Thoughts?

They are not protesting actions of the Mexican government, Einstein.

Was this really that hard for you to figure out?

A person can respect this country without standing up for a song.

So,did his (and their) actions motivate you to do anything? Since they won't take their "protest" to the source of their complaints, did you? Since you support them, what actions have you taken?
There's no doubt there are more who despise their actions than support them. I, for one, would respect them more if they took their "protest" to those who they have "differences" with, rather than condemn our country and our flag.

I write letters, I make calls, I donate, police that murder are a big problem in this country.

It’s a concern we should all share because they are not held accountable for their actions.

Let me try this again, and let's see if you can give a calm, civil adult response this time.

How do you presume that I don't "give a fuck" about young lives? Let's match stories about these young lives, shall we? O'll let you go first:)

So what?

Does he not have the freedom to do whatever he wants, stand and sit for whomever of whatever he wants?

Many in the same stadium that he was in were eating hot dogs, talking to other fans, and scratching their asses during the anthem.

Hit me with how 'bad' NFL ratings are while sports that 'support the flag' are doing so wonderfully with attendance.

No dumbass. Nobody has the freedom to do “whatever they want”

Lynch is a has been. This is the only way he can be relevant. He should have stayed retired. Now he is merely drawing attention to his shitty play

He has no beef with the United States.

How do you know? Perhaps he has lost a friend or two to police violence. Or perhaps he simply cares about the hundreds of fellow citizens who have been killed by the police.

Until this country takes some steps to stop corrupt police, you can bet on these protests continuing.
