NFL player sits for US National Anthem but stands for Mexico's National Anthem.

And I have a problem with so called Americans disrespecting the nation that gives them the rights they enjoy. So FOAD PUSSY cat.

It's too bad that you & many see it that way.

We should celebrate the exercise of those rights - even though we may disagree w/ the opinion being expressed.

The issue isn't whether the players have the right to protest. The issue is why during the playing of the National Anthem.

At least you admit you don't know Jack and love the victim card.

After reading your posts I thought you might be a white guy trying to make blacks look bad, because you are doing such a great job of it. But Top explained that you are just an angry black man who believes that you are a victim and whitey is out to keep black people down. Yes you truly do have a problem and it's all caused by you and no one else.

 TOP's been here five minutes and she's already plumbed the psyche of a long-time poster. Give me a break.

Well, the timing sure got a lot of people talking - and that's kind of the point of just about any protest. I've heard people say that they should have done it more respectfully and not as publicly, but where would that get their cause?

Pretty much all of them who I have heard have stated outright that they are not disrespecting the military by kneeling then. Intent should be all that matters, but people who want to distract have made it about that.

Are they still "doing it"? I don't see too many any more...do you?
Stay tuned. They'll be in the locker room next year until the anthem is played and the flag is raised, and no one will have to watch them "do it" at all;)
(Poor Colin still doesn't have a job. Does he....but he's got a book deal. Next, reality show. Hip Hop, Socks, and Colin

Kaepernick started protesting way back in 2016. The only reason this form of protest exploded in the news was because trump opened up his big fresh mouth and called for those protestors to be fired. trump is so ignorant about the Constitution and symbolic speech. He brings the country down every single day.

Hey...Kathy Griffin is out a job-maybe she and Colin can work on that reality show thing...
That would even be better than Martha and Snoop...another adorable friendship made in heaven:)

What's wrong with Martha and Snoop's business collaboration?

The bolded is one of the scariest things about Trump. The way he talks about the Justice Dept, and freedom of the press - he is really more suited for a 12th century monarchy than a modern-day democracy. He seems shocked sometimes when he finds out his power is limited in some way.

I just saw something on the news about how they're going after a low-level reporter for "inciting a riot" at a recent protest. They showed the video, and all he was doing was yelling eff you at a few people - and now he could face jail. Some think it's Trump testing the waters to see if he can start going after the media at large using the courts & intimidation.

Right stupid motherfucker .. my 'place' is wherever I want to be. I repeat, I'm better off than you are.

You and the fake 'teacher' can whine about Lynch and black players .. who are all better off then you two bozo's put together .. but it won't make any fucking difference .. they're still better off than you.

Why you dummies think I'd give a fuck about what racist assholes think is hilarious. :0)

Don't kill yourself motherfucker .. but you might. :0)

If you read Kap's statements when he started this bullshit, it's all about disrespecting the country. The cat's out of the bag, and now the players you refer to are just blowing smoke.

What is your definition of "disrespecting the country"?

Many have protested out of a feeling that the country is deficient in living up to its ideals & the principals set forth in the Constitution. I mean, isn't that what MAGA was supposed to be about?

Trump on Rumored NFL Plan: 'Almost as Bad as Kneeling!'
Sources say league may be considering keeping players in locker room during anthem

(NEWSER) – President Trump is still latched onto the idea of punishing NFL players who don't stand for the national anthem, most recently calling for the suspension of Oakland Raider Marshawn Lynch, and he definitely has thoughts on a new idea the league is reportedly tossing around. Per the Washington Post, sources said to be "familiar with the league's inner workings" are noting that if the anthem protests don't die down by the end of the season, NFL management could go back to the way it used to do things: keep the players in the locker room while the anthem is playing. Players were brought out of the locker room and onto the sidelines after a rule change in 2009, and league policy encourages but doesn't mandate that players stand during the anthem.

"I think most owners would support it, particularly if players continue to kneel this season," the source adds, though others note this hasn't been discussed in depth because the owners do not want to make a mid-season change. Instead, the sources say, if the protests keep up, owners would wait for the offseason—perhaps at the league's annual meeting in March—to more fully broach the subject. Trump shared his thoughts on the topic early Wednesday morning on Twitter, calling the idea "almost as bad as kneeling! When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart? This issue is killing your league!"

Obviously neither the NFL nor the players give a fuck about what the orange assclown nor his supporters want.

.. and NO, this is not 'killing the league.'

Shouldn't Trump be trying to HELP a billion+ dollar American industry?

Winning a personal battle is infinitely more important to him. Take note.

The NFL rejects him and his attempts at ownership .. and rejection is something he cannot handle.

Interesting angle there. In both incidences one group sees themselves oppressed by the government, or in Kap's place I'm sure he's referring to agencies of the government, local police agencies.

Kap's own words: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Where the intent of MAGA, in my opinion, is to "drain the swamp", first by getting rid of the power brokers in both parties that have usurped the rights of the people and the states, then by reducing the size and role of FedCo.

However the issue is, again, not the protest but the method of the protest. In the NFL's case they chose to do so during a solemn ceremony that honors our veterans and in the Trump voter's case they choose to do so at the ballot box, at publicly held rallies specifically for the cause, and by pressuring their elected officials by phone calls, letters and similar acts.

It's a public battle that the NFL let happen.

And don't pretend that this is about the rise or fall of a business enterprise. People are still going to spend their money on entertainment on Sunday afternoons. 'When the apples taste bad, buy oranges or peaches.'

Tell me thing1 how do you see it? When I was growing up we were taught respect to the country. I guess that is a thing of the past.

The NFL issue was not even on the back pages anymore. Trump reignited it and made it the issue it has been all through the fall - this one is on him.

And it's such a mistake thinking this just affects the players in question, or the owners who didn't act quick enough. There are SO many people tied to the economy of the NFL. A Sunday in an NFL city is a boon for so many small businesses and workers. Even in non-NFL cities, sports bars, merch, online activity...the ramifications are very far reaching.

And Trump, once again, proves that he cares very little (if at all) about the American worker. Again - he would rather win a personal battle than save 10,000 jobs.

Again you're pretending that consumers will just spend their entertainment budget elsewhere.

I think dissent is patriotic. I have always felt that way.

Dissent has been responsible for positive change throughout our history. The precedent is undeniable.

I have never bought into the "love it or leave it" mentality. We should all be vigilant about keeping out country honest, and making sure it is at least trying to live up to the ideals it professes & that are inherent in the Constitution.

Businesses like the NFL keep the economy moving. It's pretty lazy to say that people will just spend the money regardless. You could say that about destroying any American business.
