NFL player sits for US National Anthem but stands for Mexico's National Anthem.

And you think I give a shit if you lie about your service? It's a message board. You're just another character. I do find your misplaced pride in a decade or more old pickup truck amusing, though.

Any time someone has to proclaim his "real man" status you know he's not one.

I dislike the racists and racism displayed here, but have to give the owner/mod credit for allowing them to fling their ugly POVs around. Better to have them out in the light to be properly scorned, than skulking around under their white sheets.

 TOP's been here five minutes and she's already plumbed the psyche of a long-time poster. Give me a break.

I am unfamiliar with that term.

So you are telling me that long time posters are in a special class here and cannot be disagreed with, is that what you are saying?

The only reason Trump is up the NFL's ass,is the owners blocked him from buying the Buffalo Bills.
In hindsight I wish they would have let him buy the Bills.
He wouldn't have run for President if he had got a team.

And you're pretending that they'll spend it at all.

Businesses like the NFL keep the economy moving. It's pretty lazy to say that people will just spend the money regardless. You could say that about destroying any American business.

If you think the average football fan will sit at home crying in his beer rather than spending time with his family or friends in some other pursuit then you are in complete denial of human nature.

Some business will be destroyed, and others will prosper. The only constant is change.

Trump on Rumored NFL Plan: 'Almost as Bad as Kneeling!'
Sources say league may be considering keeping players in locker room during anthem

(NEWSER) – President Trump is still latched onto the idea of punishing NFL players who don't stand for the national anthem, most recently calling for the suspension of Oakland Raider Marshawn Lynch, and he definitely has thoughts on a new idea the league is reportedly tossing around. Per the Washington Post, sources said to be "familiar with the league's inner workings" are noting that if the anthem protests don't die down by the end of the season, NFL management could go back to the way it used to do things: keep the players in the locker room while the anthem is playing. Players were brought out of the locker room and onto the sidelines after a rule change in 2009, and league policy encourages but doesn't mandate that players stand during the anthem.

"I think most owners would support it, particularly if players continue to kneel this season," the source adds, though others note this hasn't been discussed in depth because the owners do not want to make a mid-season change. Instead, the sources say, if the protests keep up, owners would wait for the offseason—perhaps at the league's annual meeting in March—to more fully broach the subject. Trump shared his thoughts on the topic early Wednesday morning on Twitter, calling the idea "almost as bad as kneeling! When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart? This issue is killing your league!"

Obviously neither the NFL nor the players give a fuck about what the orange assclown nor his supporters want.

.. and NO, this is not 'killing the league.'

Trump won't be happy until he gets his way and anyone who protests either him and/or the country is fired, jailed, fined, or all of the above. He puts the dick in dictator.

Then he just won't be happy because there is nothing he can do but whine and tweet about it.

My husband follows economic trends very closely. I mentioned the other day that the tightie-righties are claiming that the protests have damaged the NFL because ppl are boycotting games. He just laughed and said that the NFL's bottom line has been under pressure for a few years now. His opinion is that it's market over-saturation for one thing; there's a game on several times a week now. Plus the owners have priced regular fans out of the stadiums with their ticket prices. In other words, the downturn in the fortunes of the NFL and its owners is due to their own actions rather than any miffed feels on the part of RWNJ fans.

I think dissent is patriotic. I have always felt that way.

Dissent has been responsible for positive change throughout our history. The precedent is undeniable.

I have never bought into the "love it or leave it" mentality. We should all be vigilant about keeping out country honest, and making sure it is at least trying to live up to the ideals it professes & that are inherent in the Constitution.

Nobody is saying dissent isn't proper or a listed right under the constitution, but where does dissent stop and disrespect for the nation start. What the original kneeling was about was police shooting black men. How does showing disrespect for the national anthem/country show dissent for a local problem? If you want to protest you have every right to! But protest to the authorities that can do something about the problem. Are you people suggesting the federal government should run every police force in the nation? Sounds a little like the gestapo of Hitler's Germany to me.

The NFL is free to allow players to do what they like on the field.

The consumer is free to demand a sporting event instead of an anti-POTUS protest before each game.

Have NFL revenues increased lately?

He's right on every point.

NASCAR is in far worse shape than the NFL and they have no protests going on.

I am a huge football fan. It's an issue.

The product this season is truly bad, which is definitely affecting ratings. Not completely discounting the protests, but there are so many "unwatchable" games this year.

It's the quarterback play; there are only about 7-8 good QB's in the game right now, and pretty much everyone else is really bad. Coaching has been bad, as well.

I don't think anyone wants the feds running local police. But there has to be a watchdog when there are abuses.

Protesting athletes demonstrates one of America's great strengths .. the right of dissent.

Trump and his brainless supporters demonstrate one of America' great weaknesses ,, dumb people involved in our elections.

But at the core of it all, this is about an evolving America .. and racists are losing their minds trying to stop it.

I totally agree and that watchdog should be the state attorney general. The federal government has no authority under the constitution to tell a state how it's government should be run. So the anthem protest is the wrong venue period!

LaVar Ball? Love his behavior at basketball games. Nothing but class...What a role model for young men.
