"Bloody hell, somebody new who actually talks sense on climate. You're a rare bird indeed." SS #164

A bias confirmation enthusiast getting his game on, not 12 hours into the new year.
"Because of the inaccuracies in collecting and reporting global climate changes" S9
Fine.
So you're not a trained scientist. No sin there.
But scientists, meteorologists don't "collect and report global climate changes".
They / we record data, and note statistical trends.
"we need to look at a 5 yr moving average of the temperatures."
We do, not merely on temperature, but on sea level rise, on polar ice cap activity, atmospheric carbon concentration, in contrast to records, data, and sources some of which go back many centuries.
"We also need to throw out data that is out of the statistical probability."
Based on what?
Data spikes. We know this from experience.
"There is one thing we know for sure. Climate change is cyclic."
I've never met, heard, seen, or read any climatologist assert otherwise.
They know about previous ice ages, and much more.
BUT !!
Those are NATURAL fluctuations
The issue here is not merely that our climate is changing, but that the change is anthropogenic: man-made.
"We do not know the magnitude of changes nor the length of the cycle."
Not with triple decimal precision perhaps.
But by and large the dire predictions foretold to us have been coming true; some even demonstrating that the predictions were not dire enough!
"There is a good case to be made that the warming cycle is now over."
That is the nature of science.
Static modeling a dynamic system is foolish.
The predictions made a dozen years ago are being eclipsed by events:
- coal obsolescence
- hydro-fracking causing a petro-gas market glut
- spontaneous or coincident shift from the internal combustion engine powered automobile to electric alternatives, the proliferation of renewable energy sources both commercial and private, and simple but significant improvements in energy efficiency, like the LED displacing the less efficient incandescent, and the far more toxic CFL.
We may already be too late. Too soon to know for sure.
But it's very interesting to see troglodytes like President Trump being circumvented by the world, from global leaders in China & elsewhere, all the way down to urban mayoralties, implementing recycling programs, replacing black rooves with white rooves, etc.
