Our Orange Hog apparently thinks Trade Wars are good....

Our Orange Hog is apparently egging on a trade war, and blustering that we will easily win it.

Barack Obama saved us from a Second Great Republican Depression.
I have my fingers crossed that President Pussy Grabber does not blunder us into another Great Republican Depression.

Trump steel tariffs: Trade wars are good, says Trump

US President Donald Trump has said "trade wars are good", amid controversy over his decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminium imports.
He tweeted that the US was "losing billions of dollars on trade" and would find a trade war "easy to win".

He's so naïve, and dumb - I'm already so far beyond tired of amateur hour.

I have no problem with a President elevating the interests of labor and the environment alongside the interests of corporate profit in trade negotiations.

I just have zero confidence - none, nada, zilch - that this incompetent, uninformed, blustering Orange Hog knows what the fuck he is doing. And I have been around long enough to know that blustering, clueless dunces who completely over estimate their abilities can get into all kinds of trouble.

need some exemptions in there..China is the main culprit when it comes to dumping.
None of this is easy, much of it needed ( like NAFTA negotiations). The idea is to not just save jobs but get foreign investment into US plants

This is bad economics all around. The number of jobs in the steel industry is tiny compared to the number of jobs in steel related industries. This hurts U.S. jobs. And saying bring on a trade war and they are easy to win comes from the mouth of someone who didn't study economics or history.

You supported Bernie right? His rhetoric and policies on trade isn't different than Trump's. From a policy perspective what do you have a problem with if say Bernie had done the same thing?

The idea is to bring back steel, and there is no reason it can't be done -given a level playing field.
I am worried about inflationary pressures form a super-heated economy and higher raw materials costs..

I want to see the particulars, and I want it aimed at nations that dump before I make any judgements

Sanders is far brighter than Trump and also far more likely to listen to advice particularly in areas where his own knowledge is deficient. Trump though? Hahahaha. Just remember, he was going to defeat Isis after 30 days in office, because he "knows more than the generals."

Of course, this is a deflection from the bumbling disaster that is the current WH denizen. Sanders isn't president. Trump is, and he's taking us all down with him.

Exactly. Tariff wars just lead to global economic pain. It helps no one.

You are very wise to be concerned about that.

The leg humper is a partisan hack. He only cares because it was a (R) that did it. Had it been Sanders he would be on here spouting off about how great this was for the steel workers.

The last sentence of the leg humpers post is actually a good description of the leg humper himself.

Deflection? I'm sorry, even though I have posted multiple times how bad of a move this is by Trump? Sorry, that's bullsh*t.

How about your fellow liberals now claiming to be for free trade when so many supported Sanders and his anti-trade rhetoric? What's deflection is folks such as yourself and others now claiming to be principled free traders when if Bernie had done something similar you would have no problem because it would have been done in the name of the workers.

I supported sanders and he was no Einstein. His foreign policy was myopic and withering -tying everything to "coalitions".
However he did address income inequality - which Trump is doing on a macro basis by getting wage increases
instead of tax and redistribute.

But I would have been happy with either Trump or Sanders;and Sanders would have beaten Trump.
Too bad Hilary stole the primary, but she is a vicious megalomaniac warmonger, and that was to be expected

Our number one steel importer is Canada. Same for aluminum. Trump does not know what he is doing. You idiots voted for a reality show host to be president, ans we will all suffer through his blunders. Can't you see ? He has lost over 35 percent of the people he puts ion and the turnover is unbelievable. The ones he picked are terrible. Y&ou guys hate the government, so you must love a government by the wealthy and corporations. that is what we have. Carson, Zinke, Ross, and so many others are out of their field and it shows. I hope you rightys learned a lesson.

No worries. They can make up the difference by just clubbing more baby seals. Carry on.
