As far as I'm concerned the self-defense thing is just a sign of mental illness. 3 to 6 shots is all you're going to need the bad guy is either dead or long gone. If I was out hunting and saw a guy with an AR-15 I'd head for the car and go home because that was a dangerous spot to be. A 10 to 12 gauge or a 30 ought 6 or 22 is all you need for hunting

That's because you are correct, one does not require an AR-15 for home or self-defense. As for hunting, much of it is conducted with equivalent or more powerful rifles. People do not have the right to own a AR-15 for either purpose, however. It is simply an option they have due to the individual right stemming from the 2nd Amendment.

banning it does not reduce carnage ( we did this already)..
but I can't see any reason not to either..it's a cosmetic step for a cosmetic change to a semi-automatic
