You only construct straw men because you cannot win a debate on the merits of your ideas and beliefs.
The problem is that capitalism is fundamentally and structurally unable to provide an adequate standard of living for the working class. So government has to be there to make up for that gap.
Any program that works on the concept of someone unwilling to do for him/herself getting something as a result of other people working for themselves is a failure from the start.
People put themselves in bad positions then expect others to pay for their bad choices. If handing one person someone else's money worked, poverty would have been eradicated having wasted $22 trillion trying to do it.
Too bad that's nothing like what was proposed, or put in practice.
What hasn't worked is cutting taxes for the rich and corporations. All that's done is make the wealth gap larger.

Well, we didn't do that and poverty was declining throughout the 70's. Then you shitheads got elected in 1980, started cutting those programs, then marveled at how unsuccessful they were like a bunch of obtuse idiots. The programs were working fine, then you cut them, then they started to fail.
The wealth gap has to do with freeloaders not wanting to work and expecting others to give them what they didn't earn.

I've explained how any program where one group is forced to support those not willing to do for themselves is a failure by design.
Most people who receive government assistance are employed. They just get paid wages so low, they qualify for those programs. If you wanted fewer people on government programs, the only way to achieve that is to increase wages...which you oppose. So how is your entire belief system not masturbatory? You complain about a problem for which you oppose the only solution. So you're complaining just to complain and you're perpetuating the problem in order to complain about it.

The programs that were implemented to eradicate poverty work exactly like that. Those funding don't get and those getting don't fund.

One has to answer the question of why one gets paid such a low wage they cannot make it on their own? Education? Do they have a criminal record? Are they on drugs? Or could it be a simple as they are just starting out in the workforce and are young.

We have spent $22 trillion in the war on poverty since it was declared by Johnson in the 60's. Today, we have more poverty than we had back then. Now anyone with half a brain would suggest that a program that spends that amount over five decades only to see an increase in poverty, is a failed policy and ideology.
