The art of the deal - Trump walks, NoKo wants talks

It's a waste of time ... and allows Kim to stall even longer.

The only reason for them to meet, is to sign an, already hashed out, agreement. IMO.
what agreement?
they have to agree on terms. I think it will be step by step ( NK does step by step denukes -sanctions are removed step by step) but i'm just guessing

Kim is hamstrung.

Stalling will just prolong his misery. Again, he *offered* to meet Trump for a reason: namely, that the sanctions are crippling him. He may have army but the army needs to eat. Whatever military capacity he has, it needs to fuel to operate. One of the reasons Kim gets so pissy about joint military exercises around the Peninsula is that it forces him to use precious fuel and resources to counter them.

Trump just needs to keep the sanctions on him and he will fold—or be taken out by his own generals.

I'm wondering if he'll just "die in his sleep"!! :eek2:

I bet Kim meets an intrigue death like Julius Caesar. That would be the suck part of his job.
Which general is going to knife me?

The agreement that the secretary of state negotiated.

The agreement that the secretary of state negotiated.
that is not an agreement. I don't even think they have agreed on what "denuclearization" is.
we have our definition, but is it the same as kims?

This summit ( if it happens) is unusual in that it would hammering out principles which are then negotiated
instead of the usual guaranteed agreements that get signed at summits

And he may be around for decades. Similar things were said about Il. How long did his dad rule? 1974-2011

All true, Brother.

Yet times and circumstances have changed. His father was never challenged like this, was he?

I suspect Kim may be vulnerable if he shows weakness.

Speculation is futile. We shall see.

It was a handshake agreement with established principles. The key component of which was verifiable denuclearization. Kimmy took that off the table ... so there is no reason to meet ... at this point.

Kim got what he wanted -- the slavish groveling of an American president who thought that it would add a feather to his cap. He played Twittler like a violin.

Slavish and groveling? What planet do you wallow on, planet bullshit? Good lord, you're beyond stupid and a dishonest asshat to boot.

Wasn't he?

8/4/94 https://www.heritage.org/asia/report/north-koreas-latest-challenge-the-transition-kim-jong-il
This threat now is compounded by increased uncertainty over North Korea's future course following the July 7 death of Kim 11-Sung, the North's first and only leader for the last 46 years. Kim Il Sung's designated successor is his son Kim Jong-Il, 52. The younger Kim is untested as a leader and the extent of his support among North Korea's military and Communist Party elite is uncertain. Kim Jong-Il may not rule North Korea for very long. This only makes it more urgent for Washington to seek an end to North Korea's nuclear threat. To this end Washington should seek to convey to the new North Korean leadership a very clear message: North Korea will be rewarded for ending its nuclear threat, but will face increased interna- tional pressure if it persists in building nuclear weapons.

This Heritage Foundation publication made it sound like Il could be gone in a matter of months because of pressures from the US as well as "uncertainties" from within N K . That was back in 1994.
Sounds remarkably similar to what is being said today about Un.

I don't recall Blowjob Billy, Bush II, or Obama (hail him) assuring lil' Kim that he'd be annihilated if he dared to attack the USA or its' allies, Brother.

Do you?

That's what I meant by "challenged like thisy". Perhaps I wasn't clear.

That threat was always there and has always been understood by all parties involved. Remember the Korean war never ended. We are only in a cease fire armistice.
Only an orange clown would be stupid enough to feel he had to childishly utter the words about the size of his big red button.
Hail Obama, brother.

Hail Obama.

which is why there needs to be a meeting. denuke is the goal, and NK has to commit
but that has to be done face to face, not thru foreign ministers changing stances
