U.S. in Early Talks for Summit Between Trump and Putin

Nice try, Darth...but the abomination in the Oval Office has made losers of us all.

The economy has pretty much been on an upswing for the last 9 years...unemployment has been heading lower for the last 9 years...the Korean Peninsula is no safer now than it was during the last 5 decades. The only think Trump can get credit for is not screwing it up any more than necessary SO FAR...albeit, not for a lack of trying.

The abomination has not done anything of value for our nation...and has made all of humanity a loser.

You’re hopeless.

You’re hopeless.

That is what I was thinking about you, Darth.

I hope you are able to cut the strings, though.

Should Trump go for a treaty with Kim instead just a "deal" which is vulnerable to future dismantling?

McCarthy: Trump Should Present NKorea Deal as Treaty to Congress.....

President Donald Trump should avoid the mistakes former President Barack Obama made with the Iran deal and submit any deal with North Korea for approval as a treaty, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Saturday.

"The one thing I have found, if it's going to be long-standing, I think treaties are longer standing and supportive from administration to administration," the California Republican told MSNBC's Hugh Hewitt.

Obama approved the international Iran nuclear deal by signing off on it as an executive agreement rather than a treaty. This allowed Trump to pull the United States out of the pact earlier this year.

By making any agreement with North Korea a treaty, that would negate arguments that Trump's action on the Iran deal could be repeated with North Korea, or that it makes other countries cautious about penning deals with the United States, said McCarthy.

He said he also does not agree that Trump's action made his upcoming North Korea negotiations more difficult.

“How can you negotiate with North Korea to say to end the nuclear weapons that they have if you’re allowing Iran to develop one?" said McCarthy. "That was the wrong approach all along, and I think the president took the right approach by saying no to Iran and sitting down with North Korea and saying you have to stop."

A few weeks ago, Trump pulled out of his upcoming summit with North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, but as of Friday, he'd said the summit remained in play.

McCarthy compared his action to one late President Ronald Reagan used while dealing with the Soviet Union. At that time, Reagan was willing to walk away from negotiations if they were not going how he wished, but would talk when they were heading in the direction he wanted.

"They criticized Ronald Reagan when he got up and walked away out of Iceland against [Mikhail] Gorbachev," said McCarthy. "But would the Berlin Wall have collapsed, or the Soviet Union, had he not? I think President Trump is taking that same approach. He’s making sure that for this negotiation to go forward, that the tone is set correctly. To have an agreement means that you have to, he’s been very clear, you have to end any nuclear weapons that you have or any development of that for any agreement to go forward. And he would put that into stone by going forward with the treaty."

Only 2 people need this meeting, Kim and Donald. They don't have to do a thing, just have a meeting and Trump can say he is a great international leader. Kim can tell all his people that his nukes put them on the international stage as a nation to be dealt with ,something they sought for many years. Trump is talking about several meetings now because he knows it is a dog and pony show. But the rightys will crow about it anyway, Trump knows the value of appearances. He puts them way over substance. That is how he plays the rightys.

Yet, the economy is booming, the prospect of peace looms on the Korean Peninsula and Trump is well into his second year without getting us into a war or engaged in mindless Middle East regime change.

If that is ‘lost’, then I wish we’d gotten lost about a decade ago.

Your TDS is abominable lol.

Economy is on same trajectory that Obama left. Can you read graphs?

Economy has been going up for 9 years.

Unemployment has been going down for 9 years.

Trump takes credit.

His puppets echo...and applaud.

Please let the curtain go down on this fiasco. It is tragedy masquerading as comedy masquerading as tragedy masquerading as comedy.

Uhhh...it also sucks.

You totally blew past NK and I don’t recall a past president still owning the economy nearly two years into the next presidents first term.

Whatever it is, you have it bad, Frank.

Just look at the trajectory. It has not changed. If Trump did something, it would have spiked up. It has not. Look at the market. It is spiky as hell but still close to Obama trajectory. We all know Trumps reckless behavior has made the market move up and down.

Unfortunately...the people who "have it bad" are the poor suckers still backing Donald "The Abomination" Trump...the star of the reality series, The True Assholes of Washington.

Good luck getting rid of "it."

or they understand everything, in which case they are dangerous and corrupt.”

I take it our countries are not mutually concerned about assassinated dissidents?
priorities first. How about arms control, and a solution to Ukraine/Donbass hot war to start.
Then maybe if Trump and Putin can get that far.Trump can warn him if he meddles again....priorities/build a relationship

We have nothing to offer Russia that would convince them to back off of Ukraine/Donbass. And how is arms control a priority? Also, I know it's not a big deal in Russia, but, in America, we view dissent as a pretty big deal in terms of rights/freedom.

We do lol?

Wait till the tax cuts start to kick in, you’ll be looking for even more excuses.

sure we do.
recognize Crimea referendum or back off the sanctions in return for no Russian troops and weapons transfers to the Ukraine separatists.

Priorities on the dissidents. they are way down the list

So, basically, get nothing worthwhile, and give Russia whatever it wants.
