Challenge for our leftie friends

Teflon Don

I'm back baby
As I am watching the Kavanaugh hearings I am struck by the astro turf protests and lefties being hauled out of the proceedings. Grassley is handling it masterfully.

It made me wonder if our lefty friends can provide examples of similar behavior from the right during the Kagan and Soromayor confirmation hearings.

Thanks for your participation.

Nah - there wasn't anything like that.

But you're talking about 2-3 people yelling. Let me guess...you think that reflects on millions, right?

That's inane, easy to ping pong, when was the last time a Democrat interrupted a Republican Presidential State of the Union Address by yelling out personal accusations? Least these people aren't Congressmen.

I can care less what goes on at these silly hearings ...

Just confirm him and expose the GOP for what they are ...

Just bring on November 6th,

The only thing Democrats Control, is their own VOTE

Actually I am talking about INSIDE the room. And I have seen at least 7 get carted out and it only just started

Actually I think it does reflect on the democrat party because they have admitted to plotting with outside groups to disrupt the hearings.

It is duly noted that as always you look the other way at democrat misdeeds yet still try to claim you aren’t a “democrat”

Ooooh...7 people. Okay.

Thanks for duly noting that. Maybe you could also duly find any thread anywhere where I tried to portray the right a certain way based on the actions of 7 or fewer people.

With Kagan and Sotomayor, the stakes were relatively low. Kagan was arguably more conservative than the justice she was replacing, which was the best realistic hope for the conservatives, so why would they get upset? Sotomayor was probably more liberal than Souter, but not hugely so. On the most controversial issues, like abortion, they were expected to vote the same way. He'd long been a member of the four-judge minority on most split decisions, so having her replace him mostly just preserved that status quo. By comparison, Kavanaugh is a hard-right judge being offered to replace a center-right judge who provided the swing vote on a number of critical issues, like abortion. When it goes through, it will profoundly alter the balance of the court and result in a long-standing precedents being overturned. Understandably, for people who don't want to see the court turn a drastic rightward turn, this is a big deal. If nothing else, it's widely expected to end Roe v. Wade, leading to a future when women who choose to end unwanted pregnancies are treated like criminals. The stakes are higher for this appointment than for any going back decades.

Graham knocked it out of the park. He spoke a flawless comparison of the choosing past DC judges under Democrat WH as opposed to the present Republican WH.

“The [Democrats’] whole argument is you can be a conservative Republican president, but you have to nominate a liberal to be fair to the country. That’s absurd.”

“To my friends on the other side, you can’t lose the election and pick judges. If you want to pick judges, you better win.”

Classic common sense in just 10 minutes............

I mean, the irony of this is completely over-the-top.

When Scalia passed away, MANY prominent Republicans, as well as talk radio, argued endlessly that Obama HAD to nominate a conservative, because Scalia was such a conservative icon and could not be replaced with a liberal.

We live in such a surreal world now. I guess politicians forget that there are cameras and reporters, and that there words are actually recorded and can be referenced when they completely contradict themselves.

And, Ben Sasse gives a civics lesson that all school kids should be hearing today. Do they even teach civics anymore in high school? Teaching what the branches of government are supposed to do? How the SC fits into the picture?

Satisfactory performance on the grade 11 exit exam in social studies is a prerequisite for high school graduation.

Requirements under the Minimum high school program include: "Social studies--two and one-half credits. The credits must consist of World History Studies (one credit) or World Geography Studies (one credit), United States History Studies Since Reconstruction (one credit), and United States Government (one-half credit)."

Requirements under the Recommended High School Program and the Distinguished Achievement Program include: "Social studies--three and one-half credits. The credits must consist of World History Studies (one credit), World Geography Studies (one credit), United States History Studies Since Reconstruction (one credit), and United States Government (one-half credit)."

How does your state measure up, Texas requires United States Government.

When were those nominations? Before or after Merrick Garland's nomination? You know, the guy who never even got a hearing because of Republican obstructionism.

How many tens of thousands of documents were withheld in the Kagan and Sotomayor hearings?

Name the prominent republicans who made the claim that Obama was required to replace Scalia with a conservative.

Someone should remind Graham that the Democrats did win the presidential election, in 2012, and thanks to deeply corrupt Republican politicians, like Graham, the Republicans got to choose Scalia's replacement. His rule is that you can be a liberal Democratic president, but you have to nominate a conservative or else your nominee won't even get the courtesy of a hearing. You CAN lose the election and pick judges.... you just need to be every bit as evil and self serving as Lindsey Graham to pull it off.
