I happen to be a right leaning libertarian who has very, very leftist beliefs, e.g., anti 2nd Amendment (but not because it will reduce violent crime).
I'm on the side of fairness. What Feinstein did was as low as anything Trump has said, IMO.
I hated the Tea Party, may it RIP. I hate antifas. I hate KKK and white supremacists. I hate hate IOW.
I am on the side of decorum and civility.
I appreciated that Obama had that although I disagreed with his policies for the most part.
Reagan had that. Both Bushes had that yet I strongly disagreed with Jr's foreign policy which overshadowed any domestic policy he may have had.
So yes, you're right, good luck with "my side", the side of decorum and civility defining anything.

Eventually it will end, maybe not when you say but it will because the pendulum swings. But it's kind of a shame it's come to this. There was a time when N.Y. had republican governors, senators and mayors. Once upon a time Louisiana and Idaho had dem senators and congressmen.
Reagan was from CA and carried it by a landslide. Bush Sr. did too.
What happened?

Conservative Republican Senator Everett Dirksen from Illinois was a hero of the Civil Rights Era.
Jack Kemp walked minority neighborhoods building relationships with everyone.
Mitt Romney's father, George championed civil rights for black and hispanic people as Governor .. walked in many marches.

What happened is an evolution in demographics, culture, society, rights, and opportunity. With opportunity comes change.

What we witness now are the inevitable growing pains of an evolving society.

I disagree with you on Feinstein .. but I pretty much agree with you on everything else.

Although, sometimes, civility and decorum are an impediment to progress.
