The *proximal cause* of the CA wildfires is poor forest management. Whatever contribution climate change makes it is both remote—AND debatable. Forest fires are a natural event in nature. Fire cleans out dead debris and brush. Large trees can withstand small fires that consume debris on the forest floor. Trouble starts when flames reach the canopy.

Over the last hundred years naturally occurring fires have been artificially suppressed in CA. In other words, it’s not a heat problem but a fuel problem. Put simply—there’s too much of it and coupled with the wind this time of year it becomes a ticking time bomb.

And anyone who thinks ‘changing the climate’ will help matters has no business mocking Trump for his leaf raking comments because Trump at least has the book open on the right page.

I havent studied the Ca enviornmental laws -why I haven't jumped in here -but as Darth says it's the fuel that creates the roaring fire.
I'm looking at a few things now

she lived right by the redwood national forest.
They are dying out due to last century logging - most are only a hundred or so years old -they live to be 2000+

They spend so much energy trying to think their way out of the carbon problem [assuming it’s even a problem smh] they’ve been paralyzed. The most effective way to rid the forest of excess fuel is prescribed burning.

And they’ve fallen way behind—in a nutshell, poor forest management.
