we can't effect outcomes, we were promised an "observer" seat at Geneva talks and frankly we are sitting ducks
with our 2000 force in the middle of conflicts.

All the reasons you hear about a "presence" "checking Iran" "influencing talks " are bogus.
Mattis is old school ..a good guy but not in synch with Trumps visions. Mattis recognized this and resigned
