I don't know how much it would bring in.

What I do know is that it will bring in revenue because when the top bracket returned to 39.6% in 2013, Treasury saw a 13% gain in revenues that totaled $325B.

That is a great story you created, but it is not true. You have only been here since June, so I don't think you are in a position to act as an authority on my posting habits. But, because I am in a good mood today I will humor you and explain the multiple IDs

1) It isn't against the rules. Let's be clear on that

2) FactsRStubborn was my original RP I signed up with in July 2012, but I quickly changed it to I Love America. You will see from my username history that I have not changed it since June 19th, 2013. Sort of flies in the face of your "you change it frequently lie"

3) Back in the day long before you arrived, the board used to play Werewolf quite a bit. During one such iteration, it was decided that we should play using alternate accounts because over time due to people knowing each other the game went a bit sideways. At that time, I chose Clem as my alternate ID to play the game with. That was how the second ID was born in November 2013 one year after arrival.

4) When I first got here, I created quite a stir amongst the weak kneed liberals. They weren't used to someone who can fight it out on their terms and win. There was a HUGE cabal of lefties who lobbied incessantly to have me permanently banned even though I broke no rules. There was Howey (left because of me), Bijou (left because of me), Darla (left because of me), Rana (Mod), Christiefan (board gossip), Zappas (board douchebag). And the list goes on and on. They even created board moderation tools to try to satisfy the lefties such as Thread Bans and Forced Ignore. Despite all of their attempts at trying to have me banned it never happened. The point was that under a 70% tax rate the top 1% paid a lower percentage of their income in federal income taxes than when the rate dropped to 39.6%. So, a higher tax rate does not necessarily mean the wealthy pay a larger share of their income in taxes--you have to look at the entire tax code, not just the top marginal rate.

Under that 70% rate there were many more tax deductions which were eliminated when the rates were lowered.

AOC's plan for a 70% rate is a stupid idea, will never happen, and would only result in people changing their behavior to avoid higher tax rates. She is more interested in punishing the successful than raising revenue because it appeals to those who think the rich don't deserve their wealth. It is a emotional political appeal based on envy and resentment.

Well, the bad news for you is that since 1980, the top 1% has seen all the income gains.

So if everyone's income rose at the same rate, you'd have a point.

But they didn't, so you don't.

This. That is the most egregious error in the tax code on the individual side. Clinton cutting cap gains taxes to 20% was one of the biggest boons to the wealthy ever.
