Jeb Bush said he thinks a fellow Republican should challenge President Donald Trump in 2020, according to a portion of an interview for the series “The Axe Files.”

The excerpt was tweeted by show host David Axelrod, a commentator and ex-adviser to former President Barack Obama. Axelrod’s interview with Bush, who went up against Trump in the 2016 Republican primary, is set to air on CNN at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

“I think someone should run just because Republicans ought to be given a choice,” Bush said. “It’s hard to beat a sitting president, but to have a conversation about what it is to be a conservative, I think it’s important.”

Axelrod wrote in a subsequent tweet that Bush, a former Florida governor, had been “incredibly candid on all fronts,” including on the state of the country and the Republican Party.

In the same interview, according to CNN, Bush also discussed a speech he gave at the inauguration of Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan, who has yet to rule out a 2020 bid. Of Hogan’s own inaugural speech, Bush said he "kind of got a sense that maybe this was an opening" for Hogan to consider a presidential campaign.

With the way minorities are growing in this country I'd say inside another 10 yrs you won't be seeing many republicans being elected to anything. Republicans don't give a shit about any of them and they soon will be becoming the majority. Never trumpers aren't getting on your train, too many trying to get off.

If liberals are arguing against hate and anti-semitism and then Obama and the black caucus meet with Farakhan what's that say? It's the lecturing others when you do the same thing that gets called out. The "racist white men" at SPLC call Farakhan and the NOI a hate group for their anti-semetic and anti-LGBT rhetoric. Us Republicans are racist already right? So it's not surprising we would meet with Farakhan. But why would Democrats?

Both republicans and Democrats meet and shake hands with a lot of unsavoury* people. Remember the pics of Rummy shaking hands with Saddam? Personally I think it's all pretty silly. Pols shake hands and kiss babies, it's the name of the game.

I don't remember Romney doing that but again, we're the racists, and the anti-muslims and the anti-semitists. So it's what we do. You and your fellow Democrats aren't that so why meet with and celebrate those types?

You see you fall into the trap that us Trump supporters have somehow been “seduced” by Trump. You have this belief that we are under some spell that the fever just needs to break and then it is business as usual with the Romney types. Well I am here to tell you that is completely wrong

People like me were adamantly opposed to Bush 41 trying to push amnesty. He almost did but WE shut it down. We were tired of milquetoast politicians like Romney and McCain who stood by while the left savaged them.

Then along cane Trump and I admit I wasn’t a supporter in the beginning. I voted for him and hoped for the best. Now I have seen how he has governed and I am all in. He is what many of us on the right have been looking for for years.

He has governed more conservatively than any President since Reagan. He is facing more obstruction from within the GOP than democrats.

That the wall is not built falls at the feet of Ryan and McCuntell. Oh they talked the talk but never walked the walk.

Now who will pick up the the mantle when Trump eventually leaves office? I can’t tell you. What I can tell you is that the sentiment that led to Trump being elected will not abate. You may hope it will but it will not.

The whole “trump is a cult of personality” is a Left wing/Trans Righty trope. It is not based on fact. Trans Righty never trumpers like yourself tell yourselves that to avoid the truth that your brand of politics is being rejected.

It is too soon for anyone to say. Who would have predicted in 2014 that bit only would Trump be the Republican nominee but would also win the Presidency

I’ve never said you were seduced. What I’ve said is there’s only one Trump. No one else can do what he does and get away with it. I don’t care who you vote for. If you’re only going to vote for a Trump 2.0 in the future your voting opportunities will be extremely limited
