Obama made it clear that he did not want to make it look like he was anti-Trump. If he came out against Russian interference, it would appear he was trying to help the Dems, using the power of the government. The concept is tough for you, it is trying to be fair.
No he was not going to be Putin's flunky. That is the role that Trump actively sought and is proud have. Trump conspires so much with Putin, that he will not even disclose what they talk about. He confiscated the notes of translators the first time they met, and does not allow them in meetings now. He sucks up to Putin in front of the world, while hiding what he says.
