Atmospheric CO2 hits landmark 415 ppm

Confusion and mixed messages from TrumpCo. on climate

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler has insisted that Donald Trump's administration is taking the threat of climate change "seriously," despite the president's routine denial of the well-established science pointing to a warming planet.

Donald Trumpf: "Global warming is a Chinese Hoax!!"

Donald Trumpf's own EPA Administrator: "We are addressing climate change" Andrew Wheeler reported to Congress, listing a few steps the EPA has taken to reduce CO2 levels. The EPA administrator said: "We are moving forward to address climate change."

Hello Cypress,

I saw there was a stolen thread and, since I refuse to post to stolen threads, I located the original in which to comment.

Wow. 415 is a big number. Wasn't too long ago we were hoping to hold it below 350. OK, it's getting serious now.

Time for bold action.

Here It Is

Bernie's bold Green New Deal.

Immediately declare Climate Change An Emergency!

Yes, now that's taking things seriously. And so much more.

Discussion about Bernie's GND can be found here:

Bernie Announces High Priority Full Scale Attack On Climate Change Great New Deal.

Several other candidates have announced big plans with serious approaches as well.

Trump doin the ostrich thing.

Hello Oneuli,

What makes you think that?

I see your point. Ice can pile up quite deep on land, thus minimizing the land area it covers. But when melted and added to the sea, will cause a sea level rise of a very small amount. But that amount is multiplied by all the shorelines and waterfronts all over the planet - which ends up losing more land than is gained.

And it's not simply a quantitative matter. Look at the quality of what is being given up vs what is being gained. Established beaches and waterfronts, nearby associated tourist businesses, all the sea walls the world over, low lying streets, homes, infrastructure, docks and businesses: in return for a swath of bare scraped dirt and rock on the side of a cold mountain. Well, even Donald Trump could tell ya that's a bad trade-off. But he won't. Because he doesn't care.

Mitt Romney apparently has decided to bail out of the Climate Denial wagon.

The thing is, even the smart Climate Deniers know the gig is up.

As much as Trumpf hollers that global warming is a "Chinese hoax", even his own EPA administrator - the guy Trump thought was the best person in the nation to be our point person on the environment - has fully admitted that his EPA considers climate change an issue that needs addressing and has identified ways EPA is trying to reduce CO2 emissions.

So, the bottom line here is >>> politicians will cling to climate denial in public, if they think it scores points with their dim-witted and moronic science-denying base.
But in reality, and behind the scenes, they are aware that human induced climate change is a real thing that has to be addressed at some point.

The Chinese Hoax is that Trump thinks he can bully his way into a mutually beneficial trade deal with China. So foolish.

That's cool Mitt Romney is coming clean.

That's huge for EPA administrator Wheeler, if true. He's a Coal Lobbyist.
