That's the point Gomer! That no one knows shit about the qualifications of you over-emotional scaredy-cats who lack ordinary confidence in themselves, who feel they have to carry a loaded gun with them everywhere they go in order to protect themselves from some possible boogie-man somewhere.

Many times shooting incidents end up in hostage situations where innocent lives are at stake, and it requires people with special training in dealing with hostage takers.

But, the last thing the world needs is some Barney Fife/Dirty Harry wanna-be parading onto the scene with guns-a-blazin' risking more innocent lives, and risking their own lives as well. When the cops arrive on scene, they are looking for people who are shooting guns and and they are going to shoot anyone with a gun and without a badge and uniform.

Police Departments across the nation do not want you Barney Fife's approaching crime scenes and butting into Police matters because of these very reasons.

First of all, I rarely carry my weapon. I don't live in the shithole gang infested shooting galleries you call a city.
"Confidence"? Of what? I'm confident in my abilities. I also know my limitations
Scared? Yep, of a few things, mainly of where the left wants to take this country.
It's sad you think gun owners are destitute TV characters, it shows your integrity.
Responsibility means knowing when to pull a firearm, and face the criticism if you don't.
Think about it, almost all those who take the time to get a carry permit actually
shoot their guns, so they're familiar with it. The instances when a crime is thwarted
by a citizen with a firearm is hidden in the unread portion of the newspaper and never
mentioned nationally. But, if they went "guns-a-blazin" as you designate, they'd almost
have to cover it nationally, and you don't see it, do you? We aren't what you fools claim.

Don't take it personal dude.

But, one of the men I worked with got a permit to carry.

About the 3rd week he was out wearing his new gun in public, he walked up on a man holding a gun on a couple in a dark alley in the Deep Ellum Entertainment district Dallas.

Instead of using caution, he pulled his gun and ran up on the man holding the gun, pointed his gun at the bad man and told him to drop his weapon. The bad man just turned his weapon on my friend, shot him through the heart, and then shot both the man and women in the stomach and fled the scene letting them all bleed to death, and was not even caught, for several months.

Since that happened to someone I knew personally, and think about those two innocent people having to die like that, I've totally changed my mind about people carrying guns on the street.

You sound like you may know when and when not.

My friend, was a good man, young, served in Afghanistan, a trooper, well liked, would do anything for anyone. And he is sorely missed today.

We were all shocked to learn that our friend didn't use some caution.

Then your friend was an idiot; because he should have been in a defense posture, where the other idiot wasn't able to just "turn and fire".

Plus I personally don't believe this occurred, so it will need some verification; because anyone can invent a story, even one where a single citizen shot 4 or five criminals and saved not only a young couple but also their newborn child.

I was thinking the same thing. A war veteran just out of the service should have the instincts to find a vulnerable spot, get his attention and put a bullet in his head.

There you go again, making assumptions. Dude, I know many men who served in the Middle East wars of late.

Some of them came home, hit the turf a runnin', blended back into civilian life, became an instant leader, and made an instant favorable impression on everyone. While I've known some others who were so affected by their combat experiences in negative ways, that they immediately fell into drugs, alcohol, depression, personality disorders such as PTSD, and depression.

And for some of these ex-service men coming home, guns are about the worst thing they could have in their personal possession.

And I'm thinking this was the case for my friend, because I know he would still be here with us today, had he not had a gun in his possession.
