Global bond yields ‘scream recession’

We are going to need a Nuremberg Trial, Truth & Reconciliation Commission, and a New Reconstruction after this.
Conservative political power needs to be curbed by removing its artificial institutional advantages.

You'll get nothing. The economy will keep booming, Trump will be re-elected and morons like you will still be ranting about imagined crimes and impeachment until you are blue in the face removing any lingering doubt how fucking retarded you are.

One of the most reliable recession signals flashed red at the same time as Germany’s economy contracted, eurozone growth was slashed in half and Chinese factories suffered a shock setback.

So the EU is headed for recession, and China's growth has fallen below 5%. That's the good news? :awesome:

As tempting as it is to rejoice in seeing the one and only bright spot in this shit-beslimed presidency turn to turds, I just can't be happy over a coming recession. It hurts far too many ppl.

a recession would surely seal Trump's fate

very very few presidents don't get reelected when the economy is good, it's true people 'vote with their wallets' as the saying goes - and Trump almost always starts his hate rally rants with low unemployment numbers, Dow average highest in history, manufacturing up etc etc etc because it works...……….all of that GONE with a recession

it'll cause many people much pain but it wouldn't cause all of people to lose what's left of their democracy, cures for serious illnesses are usually not pleasant!

That sounds a lot like what the Trump apologists say when the topic of tariffs comes up.

From what I've been reading it is unprecedented for a president to have such abysmal approval #s in an economy this good. That does not bode well for the Toadstool next year. Plus he has an entire year more to fuck up things in new and winning ways.

Trump's claim about tariffs being short-term pain for long term gain is horsepucky, no historical proof for that one at all

on the other hand no way he pulls another rabbit out of Putin's hat if we're in recession

all this probably doesn't matter anyway because a recession looks unavoidable

Yeah. No rebound today either, and one more day to go to finish out the week. This is the part where the ominous music starts playing....

The 'bloodbath' in America's trucking industry has officially spilled over to the rest of the economy

Truckers have for months been sounding the alarm about a "bloodbath" in their $800 billion industry.

This year alone, some 2,500 truck drivers have lost their jobs as trucking companies large and small declare bankruptcy. Major carriers like J.B. Hunt, Knight-Swift, and Schneider have been forced to cut their annual outlooks.

A slew of other indicators have underlined turmoil in trucking. Transport research groups reported that the volume of trucks purchased in July fell to its lowest level in nearly 10 years. Rates in the spot market tumbled by 37% this July from July 2018. And the Cass Freight Index says year-over-year trucking volumes have slipped for eight consecutive months.

Hang on twinkle toes; so when you morons fabricate outright lies about Trump, we're apologists for asking for proof of those lies and pointing them out? STFU.

This reminded me of something from the Obama years. As the economy slowly began to recover, and then pick up steam, everywhere I saw politics discussed online, the RWers were insisting that there was no recovery. They claimed that Obama was somehow controlling the figures released by various government agencies tasked with compiling them, like BLS for instance. The unemployment rate wasn't really whatever-the-latest-report said; they always tacked another 10 or 20% on to it and said that Obama was hiding "the real unemployment rate."

Fast-forward to the Toadstool Residency. I have yet to see any LWers claim that the statistics are faked, that Toadstool is somehow manipulating the numbers to make himself look good. We accept the numbers for what they are. Maybe the situation with the trucking industry should have been getting more attention?
