the USA is a democracy

federation:
1. a group of states with a central government but independence in internal affairs.
2.an organization or group within which smaller divisions have some degree of internal autonomy.

You cannot take words out of their historical context.

The fact that the framers of the constitution studied the Roman republic does not mean our 21st century government is a replica of the Roman republic in any way.

The framers were oligarchs. We have amended the constitution many times since 1789 to create our representative democracy
what do you mean? Our STRUCTURE of government hasn't changed except around the edges like popular votes electing Senators, and increased franchisement

But the organizational chart is the exact same as the founders

Doesn't take too much rocket science to determine how many of the Islamidiotocracy organizationed crime Chinese checkers chart still want to nuke Temple Mount in that SCOTUS Rosenberg decision tradition with all of those Christiananlity pedophile mentalities immaculate drugs in synagogue conceptions over the past decades from that Christian - Muslim more perfect union 9/11 business franchisement republic fiasco.

Now one would have to wonder if he thought about all that before he hit his keyboard, or, if he made it up as he went along? For his sake, let's hope the later

Leave it to a Christian Nation 9/11 jihad of fabricated misnomers funding immaculate drugs in synagogues conceptions to impress Israel for decades on just how many of this demagoguery want to nuke Israel as those thieving US Constitution - old glory - old testament arsonists standing of it's only federal sin in one nation under God with equal justice under law.

You have been duped by a talking point the rightwing has been circulating for years.

The Rightwing tosses around the word "Republic" because on some blog somewhere they read that is was a good argument to use explaining why our nation should ignore the popular will of the people, and allow dumb ass sh*t like the archaic Electoral College continue to allow the minority to exercise tyranny over the majority.

The word "Republic" is so nebulous as to be almost meaningless.

Republic (noun) - "a country that is governed by a president and politicians elected by the people and where there is no king or queen"

Oxford Dictionary

^ That is as nebulous and imprecise as it gets.

So many nation-states have called themselves Republics, that the word imparts virtually no information about the structure of government >>
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
People's Republic of China
First French Republic
German Democratic Republic
Democratic Republic of the Congo
Democratic People's Republic of North Korea.

The framers of the Constitution studied the democracy of Athens and the Roman Republic when they were writing their constitution. That was over two centuries ago, and you cannot take those words out of their historic context. Our 21st century government in no tangible way, shape, or form, is a replica of the Roman Republic.

The framers where wealthy, landed white men who believed in Oligarchy. The most radical and democratic were people like Jefferson, but his opinion did not hold sway and win the day. Oligarchy is what most of the framers intended to establish. The House of Representatives was their only nod to a quasi democratic institution. Given the historical context, is was well understood that a Democracy requires an educated and informed citizenry - which was not the case in 1789.

The country has changed by leaps and bounds since 1789. Free public education is universal, literacy is universal, access to information is ubiquitous, and we still have a free press. That is more than enough to form the basis of a representative democracy.

The framers of the constitution purposefully recognized the legal right to modify and amend the constitution as future generations saw fit for their place and time in the arc of history. We have repeatedly modified the constitution since 1789 to make our government a true representative democracy by any plausible definition of the word.

Some years ago, a wingnut in some opinion column floated this trial balloon of using the word "Republic" as an excuse for defending the tyranny of the minority. You just got duped into parroting that talking point.

not understanding the electoral college puts you in a category beyond stupid

It's one of the most if not THE most sacred method of assuring we stay a democracy

Face it, you were duped by the rightwing talking heads who instructed you to run around message boards hollering "We are a Republic!". As if it had any tangible meaning or formed the basis of a compelling argument.

The word is so nebulous as to render itself almost meaningless. All it implies is that there is no king, emperor, or monarch - and that there is some type of popular representation in government. Period, end of story.

Republic (noun) - "a country that is governed by a president and politicians elected by the people and where there is no king or queen"

Oxford Dictionary
The Roman city-state got rid of their kings in the 5th century BC, and established some form of quasi-representative institutions - giving them the claim to call themselves a Republic.

The word "Republic" in no way, shape, or form indicates, implies, or states that we have to have an undemocratic Electoral College, or indicates that States are only allowed two senators, that sparsely populated states should be given vastly disproportionate power, or that the minority should have tyranny over the majority in the institutions of government.

The Rightwing talking heads who instructed you to make the forgoing claim knew that the word "Republic" just sounds so noble and unimpeachable, that nobody would think to look up the definition of the word in an impeccable source like Oxford Dictionary.
