Democratic Debate

S.S. is unsustainable in its current form yet you want to increase benefits and lower the retirement age? I mean sure why not right? Throw in free college, free healthcare. What else would you like the government to provide you for "free"?

How about requiring Congress to pay back what they "borrowed", from the SS fund??

I think they should do something for your free unadorned practical budget education, like two years army or peace corps or working in blighted areas for several years after school.

Something. And it needs to be something unpleasant! LOL cuz that is the whole point. Don't teach people to expect free things in life. These are adults at 18, right? Let's not extend immaturity 4 years.

There are communities that have offered to pay for the College education of someone who can fill one of their needs and usually the only requirement is, that they work in that community for a specific number of years.

Yep, ... or you can join the military and get paid to learn.

Hello Althea,

That too. But both parties in this scenario are taking a tax credit for any premium costs.

Any employer paying the health costs of a worker could increase the pay of that worker by the same amount if the USA had free health care. Sure, taxes might have to be raised to pay for the health care, but the tax hike would not be as much as the pay hike. The worker would see a net gain.

We have to stop the huge sucking sound of wealth being extracted from American paychecks for health care. Americans pay more than double what it costs other countries. There is no need for that. Big pharma executives and big insurance executives are getting filthy rich and they are not earning it.

No question that this is a complex issue. A big part of the problem, as we see in these threads, is that most people don't even understand their own insurance funding. Most think that insurance is free, or very low cost because they literally pay next to nothing for it.

Others saw price hikes after ACA was passed, but didn't understand that their bosses were taking advantage of the propaganda in the news, and claiming that ACA raised their costs. Meanwhile, they just passed along a larger share of the premium cost to the employee, and blamed Obama.

Many pay almost nothing for their insurance. That's due to their negotiated union contracts in many cases. So, they'd actually be paying more via taxation, and they won't be very supportive of such a plan.

This country typically operates on a 'I got mine' mentality. Others 'made bad choices', if you believe their claims.

So a new law which establishes medicare for all must also force employers who have been providing health insurance to then increase the pay of workers by the same amount the insurance was costing the company.

Problem solved.

We can do this.

It's not rocket science.

Employers will have no excuse not to comply. One day, they are paying the money out to insurance companies. The next day they are paying the same money out to the workers. No loss for the company, just take one payable and shift it to another. Profits are not affected. No additional cost is incurred by the employer. Workers get fatter paychecks.

One problem with that is the employer contribution to the program...app. 7% of an employee's salary.

Self employed people pay about 11%...having to contribute the employee as well as the employer contribution.

“We” don’t want to do this, Snowflake.

The Democrat debates proved that there is no need to send in the clowns. They all were on stage including a culture thief, Pocahontas and a Socialist and a creepy, sleepy, corrupt old man, Biden, who should go home and wipe the oatmeal off his chin.

When Democrats say that they want to make something “free”... taxpayers should get their wallets out.

Just who will be paying for this "new" medicare for all?

You want government imposed financial mandates on
companies and small businesses? What about those who
don't provide current health insurance? No raises for them?

What about hospitals and caregivers? Will you also slam
government mandates and restrictions on them too? You'll
have to control costs somehow. How? Reduce research &
development? Limit wages and care coverage? This would
end up being a government controlled industry top to bottom.

College for everyone...? Another government takeover? When will it end??

don't confuse them with math while they are ruining their chances at holding power in the house.

Let them run all of these impossible promises out there in front of the American people just a year before election.
It's like watching them walk off the cliff

Medicare for all means that illegals (non-citizens) could come to this country at age 65 and get Medicare for the rest of their lives without paying a dime into Medicare.
Why aren’t they deported as the law requires?

You can bet that if Medicare for all happens, the rules concerning time requirements for paying into Medicare will be charged for illegals.

A financial disaster of Biblical proportions.

It's not just the math. It's about absolute control over all of us and the dismantling of our country
and constitution. It's about destroying the greatest and most powerful country on earth from within.
We, as proud Americans, cannot allow this to happen.
