It's about people (in this case the Bamas) preaching, whining, complaining about whites not wanting to live in
predominantly minority neighborhoods, yet THEY THEMSELVES refuse to own property in and/or live in
predominantly minority neighborhoods. THEY would rather to reside among whites.

I am not going to turn away from the open racism of saying blacks belong in their own neighborhoods and shouldn't buy in areas that are predominantly white. Furthermore, Michelle's comments came long after they bought the DC house. You don't like your bias being challenged, tough.

Nice deflection from the OP's comment: "Fact is nobody wants to be around blacks. Blacks mean crime and drugs and poverty."

You guys read that comment plus a RW spin on Michelle's words and built a false narrative around them. Take the above comment about crime, etc. TDAK's claim is that it's true (while I'm saying it's absolutely false), so why is he bitching that people want to move somewhere where they feel safer?

I'll tell you my issue. It's not where the Obama's live. I could not care less. They earned their money they can live where ever they want. And Michelle is not wrong that there was white flight from cities. American cities started to decay and whites moved to the suburbs. That is a fact. It's when she said we (whites) are still running. And my issue with that is lots of whites (and others) have moved back into American cities. It gets called gentrification and to many gentrification is racist. Whites are moving into minority neighborhoods, causing prices to rise and forcing minorities out.

So if its white flight was bad but whites moving back and into minority neighborhood's is bad what should happen?

How much gentrification do you think is actually going on in this country? The statistic I read is 8% since the year 2000. Apparently there's a lot more of it in and around SF than the rest of the country. I confess to not knowing as much about gentrification as you do. If whites move back to minority neighborhoods how does that force out minorities? It sounds to me like gentrification is defined as black neighborhoods being all poor and crumbling with white people swooping in to save them, but that's not true.

Michelle's right. In many neighborhoods whites move when more non-whites move in. My former neighbors, a couple of racists, told me they'd move if blacks came onto the block. I would bet there's more white flight than gentrification going on in this country.
