Southerners Die Young

I have eaten at 4 star Michelin rated restaurants in Lyon France, and 10 course ones stateside and can attest that southern food is equivalent
to pig slop presentation in comparison to fine dining experiences with paired wines. But when I do feel like pigging out, yes, southern food has its greasy charm.

Still, more of an apples oranges thing. The French laundry (where I've dined several times) versus the Dixie Pig is not really a debate.
I'd rather drop 20 bucks on a meal than $2000, but there is no comparison to the fare, either.

Tell me about it, I just got back. You can't get a decent portion of fresh vegetables in most restaurants.

You get fried triggersish or flounder or oysters, with a giant side of fries and a little cup of coleslaw that tastes like sugar.

I went to the grocery to make a vegetable stir fry dinner and a lady asked me what to do with the ginger I purchased. She had no idea what to do with it.
You know how hard it is to locate a decent wok in the low country?

Basically you have to do a saturated fat detox, day for day, after you leave the place.

That's why we rarely go out. And for people on a budget, it's a budget killer.

Much cheaper and healthier to eat at home. One can fix high protein, low fat meals very quickly and cook in advance for the week if you get busy.

I'll make large batches of burritos and freeze them. In a hurry? Pull them and pop them in a microwave. Instant meal.

I looked at my own state as well as what appeared to be outliers in the north.

In the counties that are highest in my state are those that are more rural (isolated) and where the Indian Reservations are located. Not a surprise. Those numbers also coincide with suicide and substance abuse statistics.

I then looked at some counties in North and South Dakota. The extreme numbers there are almost entirely Indian Reservations. We all know the conditions and situations that exist in those areas. I've seen it first hand here in Idaho.

Know where the best numbers are in my state? The few enclaves where the liberals are concentrated. :rofl2:

Speaking of dying. It looks like the obese slob, Trump, paid a surprise visit to Walter Reed. Not scheduled. The press release said it was part of his annual medical exam. Sure it was. It's not due until February.

He suffers from heart disease and one article indicated he was suffering from "chest discomfort".

We can only hope.

LA was declared the unhealthiest.
Looking at data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Medical Association, and the Census Bureau, the rankings took into account everything from obesity and smoking to community and environmental factors, such as child poverty and air pollution, to public policies like immunizations, and health outcomes like cancer deaths and diabetes.

#50 Louisiana has high rates of obesity, physical inactivity, and infant mortality. It has the highest percentage of children in poverty and a higher rate of infectious diseases.

Why Are So Many Middle-Aged White Americans Dying?

This trend was especially concentrated in the South, they found. “In seven southern states—West Virginia, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Arkansas—the gap between actual and expected mortality in 2014 exceeded 200 deaths per 100,000 people. In West Virginia, mortality rates were higher than at any time since 1980,”

Gobble that pig fat goobers

White people are dying faster than they are being born in the majority of U.S. states, study says
White people in America are dying off at a faster rate than they are being born
For the first time in U.S. history, more white people died than were born in 2016
Data indicates white people could be a minority sooner than previously thought
