Only a mental midget would think that "damned" within the context it was used would constitute "vulgarity."

Damn, then they should be allowed to listen to Trump*.

What snowflakes, don’t they know a television can be turned off if they are so easily offended?

I actually support the precept that the coarsening of society should be impeded.

I cannot recall my father, step mother, aunt, grandmother, cousin ever using that word or any other four letter word. They simply are not neccessary to communicate effectively. And that word is not necessary in advertising, professional environments, or in the presence of children

IT'S A BUNCH IF MOMS, DUMBFUCKS.

IF IT'S LEFT UP TO THE SLEAZOCRATS = YOUR CITY:

I grew up with a strict family bit about swearing. If anything smothering the issue just increases usage down the road. Still, damn was never that frowned upon it was the use of God's name with the word that made it a curse. That's one of the few words I don't use unless some shit goes down and I just blurt it out.

My parent's example seemed to rub off on me.

In the pantheon of four letter words damn is not that horrible. Still, it is not a word I see used in any measurable way in professional settings, meetings, interviews, and we do not expect little kids to use it. If we expect little kids to not use it, I attempt to have the self discipline to try to refrain from using it myself. What does it say to little kids if the standard is they cannot use it, but I can? It really is not a word that adds anything of value everyday speech, writing or prose.

Most American don't care for the feeble minded tripe that you post.

Children shouldn't watch TV if this is an issue. That word is everywhere as it's not even on the list of words that can't be on public television. It's been that way for years. Most sitcoms will have it. Comedy cartoons have it and even stuff on HGTV and plenty of food competition shows have had it. Quite frankly it's hardly a thing. The word is so widely used it's just common banter that you'll hear all over. It's not like they used the f word.

Yes, for four letter words this one is far below the pinnacle of vulgarity.
It is also not an thoroughly benign word. It is an off-color curse word that adds nothing, nada, zilch to competent everyday English vernacular.

If I heard an eight year old say "damn" I would correct them.

If I heard somebody in an professional-level interview say "damn", someone expected to be putting their best foot forward, they might blow getting the job.

If a professional, a commissioner, a public official made a habit of saying "damn" in a public meeting or public setting I would lose some respect for them.

I think of Gordan Ramsey when all this is mentioned. Truthfully, for me, the word is more often used in friendly aspects than anything.
