Where I live, before the 3rd Monday in January became an official holiday for county employees, it was one on the list of floating holidays that could be used. The County has a large percentage of black employees, however, very few ever used it as their floater. They cared so much about MLK and what is claimed he did for blacks that they'd work on that Monday and take their floater day when the weather was better.

On a side note, the centers that are part of the County dump are always closed on Monday. Their schedule is T - Sa.

That's how it should be assuming MLK deserves a day. Ideally MLK day should be cancelled. If we want to honor someone let's honor thomas edison or sam colt. Call it Capitalism Day or 2A Day.

It's not a Fed holiday. Each state has its own way of recognizing Presidents' day. I believe Washington's bday is still a Fed holiday. Maybe when Feb. 22 falls on a Monday, it's a Fed holiday?
