With the worsening corona virus outbreak, those fears may be coming true.

President Trump's political allies have made overly optimistic statements only to be contradicted by the government's top scientists and doctors. For example,

A day later, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the virus' spread to the US was inevitable. He said the stock market is "starting to look very good" even as the Dow was nosediving amid corona virus anxiety.

Trump is not subjected to a higher level of scrutiny, or held to a higher standard, than previous presidents. The big difference now is that his definition of “fake news” has expanded to include any news he does not like.

I am just wondering Kenny, when you were in an steaming Vietnamese jungle thinking that you could die any minute, did you ever think your future self would be so timid and terrified about a new strain of flu? 80,000 died in the US from H3N2 during the 2017-18 flu season ffs, how did you turn into such a wimp, I really would like to know?

There has been only one case of Covid 19 here in Chonburi, and that was an English drug dealer who was deported and only showed symptoms once he arrived back in Blighty. Why are you Septics so terrified of the flu, fucking wimps!

There were record numbers of Chinese here over Xmas and New Year, they've all gone home now and the Thai hoteliers are tearing their hair out. If you get this hysterical over a new flu strain you must have gone apeshit over the H3N2 epidemic two years ago which killed 80,000 in the US alone.
