Name calling is simply a sign that rational discussion and debate is ended.
But its funny, those who threw the biggest fit about certain names are also the ones who feel justified in using those same names.
If you disagree with them you are fair game.

Kathianne, you are not a kool-aid drinking liberal socialist, so you are lumped in with everyone right of Castro in their book, no distinction is made for 'moderate' views. In fact, they are completely intolerant of anyone who doesn't totally agree with Marxist socialist policy. Don't let it bother you.
I am routinely called every name in the book... stupid, ignorant, uneducated, redneck, bigot, racist, homophobe, religious wacko, fascist, neocon, etc. I probably have more college credits than most of the people here, and a wall full of degrees. I have read countless books by countless authors, I have a very diverse group of friends from every race, creed, and sexual orientation, of which I do not make personal judgment on for what they believe in, and I am not a member of any organized religion, I am a spiritualist. My political compass (according to those online surveys the Libertarians put out to show you how Libertarian you are) shows I am dead center moderate, with a slightly right viewpoint on fiscal policy. Yet I am often stereotyped by liberals here, because that is what they have to do, you see. They simply must destroy any dissension from their ideology, because it can't succeed unless they do.
I've watched the success of this strategy over the past 8 years, as they have essentially ostracized any opposing viewpoint, and attacked anything which threatens their agenda in any way, and they will continue to do this as long as it is allowed. Many 'conservatives' are intimidated by their rhetoric, and in a pointless attempt to be accepted by them, will often allow themselves to be cajoled into passively going along with their ideas. McCain is a prime example of someone who has gone down that road, and look at where it got him. Stand true to your principles, don't let these scum buckets change you, don't be fooled into thinking they will 'like' you if you suck up to them, it's the biggest mistake you could ever make.

I have been called racist because I disagree with the way race-based government programs work. (Or, I should say do NOT work.) It's sad how some - and I am talking both parties - are so busy eating the end product of their respective party mascots they have zero room left for rational thought.
It is even more sad how one who is dedicated to a political philosophy can be ostracized from their party because said party is consistently moving more toward extremism and the THINKING individual refuses to follow.
And it is sadder yet those who once were dedicated to a particular political philosophy have abandoned their principles in order to follow their party into extremism. Today pretty much all we see is the battle between extremist positions on various issues. We have not much longer to go before it rips us apart as a people.

I do like you kathy even though I have been mad at you in the past but really dear I think you have been treated pretty damn well here in comparison to how I was treated at one site we were on with each other.
Hang arround and debate with us while your party is out of control and our is in control.
I gurantee you, you will see democrats not walk in lock step and you will see them willing to disagree with the party and the party leader.
Then of course you will get a great giggle out of how we attack each other and cant muster the lock step the cons can.
Then you will think your party strong in comparison. You will however be wrong in that too.

Wait till you see how pissy the hardcore dem stamps get when we start criticizing there plans and media turns on them after obama gets elected.
I wish they would remember that yes the dem is the better option this year but that neither party is worth anything. Either side squanders 2.6T of our taxes on ridiculous shit every year. If they invested it in America we would have best cities, infrastructure, leader of medicine, leader of alt energy, etc..
