High Confidence in Trump Adm. to Handle Coronavirus: 77%. More than prior threats

OR NOT. GALLUP ALWAYS HITS ALL FIFTY STATES...AND I PROMOTE THIS POLL BY MEANS OF COMPARISON TO THE SAME POLLS GALLUP TOOK DURING PRIOR PATHOGEN SCARES, THEREFOR CONSIDER ITS COMPARATIVE RESULTS VALID.

THIS: •Current trust exceeds that for prior global or U.S. disease threats

Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted Feb. 3-16, 2020, with a random sample of 1,028 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. For results based on the total sample of national adults, the margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level. All reported margins of sampling error include computed design effects for weighting.

Each sample of national adults includes a minimum quota of 70% cellphone respondents and 30% landline respondents, with additional minimum quotas by time zone within region. Landline and cellular telephone numbers are selected using random-digit-dial methods.

It's over a fucking month old dipshit.

I DID the EXACT OPPOSITE. I used the previous polls, by the SAME POLLSTER, SAME METHODS, TO HIGHLIGHT THE DIFFERENCE IN THE CURRENT RESULTS.

COMPARISON OF THE PREVIOUS AS ABSOLUTE EQUALS TO THE CURRENT.

THEN THIS:
•Current trust exceeds that for prior global or U.S. disease threats

Entire POINT. And I LIKE IT !!!!

Right. And if you have the corona virus just go ahead and go to work, you'll be fine.

You would blame Trump if Canada bombed Israel. It doesn't matter to you hateful leftists what Trump does, you believe he is the devil and we conservatives are his "angels."
You think Trump's only concern is for himself? Why are you so ignorant to believe he has his own interests over our country's? Maybe you can show us some concrete evidence of this, and not your leftist bullshit spin on things. Get control of yourself!! This country will survive after Trump"s presidency ends....unless you libturds gain power and reduce it to a socialistic shithole.

Indeed.

GOT CAUGHT WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN, AGAIN.

THANK GOD PRES.TRUMP CUT OFF INBOUND FLIGHTS JAN. 31st , INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR THE BUREAUCRATS TO DO SOMETHING...

Bullshit. Did the market crash then? It crashed this time not because of the virus but because we have a blubbering idiot in charge, wall street had a right to panic.

08-24-2009

I have heard that the N1H1 flu is not really any worse than a regular flu.... Infact some reputable sources have told me its not as bad as a regular flu.

Why the hype? What is it about this flu that sets it apart from other flu's?

Bullshit. Did the market crash then? It crashed this time not because of the virus but because we have a blubbering idiot in charge, wall street had a right to panic.

They had over 3 1/2 years of Trump to panic. They didn't. Why then, were the markets and economy on a constant rise until the spread of this virus that crashed a number of countries markets? Care to explain that, Tacky?

I wonder we we haven't been seeing THIS ON THE FAKE NEWS????

Higher confidence than under Ebola (2104) or H1N1 (2009) outbreaks....Oh..I think I KNOW WHY WE'RE NOT SEEING IT......

High Confidence in Government to Handle Coronavirus

•77% trust the U.S. government to handle a coronavirus outbreak

•Current trust exceeds that for prior global or U.S. disease threats

•Two in three expect coronavirus to negatively affect the global economy

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- About three in four Americans say they are very (31%) or somewhat confident (46%) in the federal government's ability to handle an outbreak of the coronavirus. This is a higher level of confidence than Gallup has found for the government's handling of previous health scares.

Trump's not handling shit, dummy. He cowardly and cravenly passed it off on Pence like a dog turd bag dropped on Pence's doormat.

Where does the buck stop? Here? I don't think so.

Thanks for the talking point about Trump's failed leadership, no accountability, passing off of non-delegable duty
and shirking responsibility.

THE POLL ISN'T ABOUT THE MARKET, IS IT? IT'S ABOT WHO CAN HANDLE THE OUTBREAK BETTER.

READ THE RESULTS OF THE OBAMA YEARS.

273,000 IN FEBRUARY is FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE STOCK MARKET....

PENCE IS DOING GREAT and TRUMP IS DOING OTHER THINGS.

TRUMP KNOWS HOW TO DELEGATE, LIKE THE GREAT CEO HE IS.

273,000 jobs in FEBRUARY....

The marvelous Obama-reconfigured CDC demonstrates just how resilient and resistant to Trump's attempts to downgrade the Center.

Is this what you tried to give Obama the credit for?

Overregulation of diagnostic testing has played a major role in this delay. For weeks, the CDC operated the nation’s sole diagnostic laboratory for coronavirus, while testing in the rest of the world proceeded apace.

Test protocols using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were publicly available shortly after Chinese researchers published (or described) the sequence of the virus in mid-January. The World Health Organization (WHO) used a freely available German procedure to create a test kit, shipping 250,000 tests to 159 laboratories worldwide.

Since early February, the WHO has facilitated specimen transfer to referral laboratories.

In China, labs have tested thousands of patients each day. By Feb. 23, the Chinese government had approved 10 test kits, and production capacity reached 1.65 million tests per week. Meantime, South Korea has more than 500 testing sites and has screened over 100,000 people, reportedly testing 10,000 individuals per day and pioneering “drive-through” testing facilities.

This enhanced testing capability is a key reason why the country has reported over 5,100 cases — the second-largest, outside China — including larger numbers of patients with mild illness, as reflected in a case fatality rate less than 1 percent.

As of March 3, the UK had tested nearly 14,000 cases.

By contrast, the United States had performed a paltry 472 tests by March 2. Further, CDC testing criteria have precluded recognizing community spread because of requirements stipulating recent travel to China or exposure to an infected person. Adherence to these guidelines delayed testing in the first probable case of community transmission, in Northern California, by four days.

The CDC has expanded indications for testing to include travel to Japan, Italy, Iran and South Korea, but testing guidelines remain biased toward the sickest individuals.

For those without known exposures, the CDC only recommends testing for severely affected patients.

In theory, doctors could have tested any individuals in whom they suspected coronavirus, and Vice President Mike Pence on March 3rd encouraged this; however, the unavailability of testing has been a major obstacle in practice.

On Feb. 4, following Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar’s declaration of a public-health emergency, the Food and Drug Administration issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to the CDC, allowing it to distribute test kits to designated public-health laboratories.

The CDC began shipping the kits on Feb. 5, but laboratories could not validate them because they contained a defective reagent.

Laboratory tests typically contain what is termed a “negative control” — material expected to yield a negative result when tested, and which protects against false-positive results stemming from contamination or other issues. Many labs obtained positive results with the negative controls, invalidating test runs and precluding use of the kits. Affected labs were required to send their specimens to the overburdened CDC.

The FDA has not allowed the experienced and highly skilled professionals at public-health, academic and commercial laboratories to set up their own laboratory developed tests (LDTs), and no manufactured test kits have been authorized for sale in the US. In Europe, several companies, at least one US-based, have regulatory approval to sell test kits there.

The FDA’s regulation of laboratory tests has been a longstanding concern. This includes moves to regulate LDTs, despite the existence of stringent alternative-regulatory and oversight mechanisms. In general, the FDA has exercised “enforcement discretion” with respect to LDTs. With coronavirus testing, the FDA’s abandonment of enforcement discretion may have proved deadly.

HORSE SHIT. We DIDN'T HAVE THE MEDIA PUSHING HYSTERIA THEN.

THE MARKET IS NOT "THE ECONOMY", AS THE 273,000 JOBS ADDED IN FEBRUARY PROVES.
