Socialism is a fraud -just another dodge for government to run your life
although I make an exception for Medicare for all (even though we cant afford it)

But basic stuff like food rent housing, clothes etc -get off your butt and go to work for it.
Build a career and get ahead of the rat race, enjoy the fruits of your labor as you age..

But man. all that IS up in the air now - damn Chinese!

Although if some unexpected turn of unexpected bad luck took away your savings and your income and you couldn't find another job, you would, just like any other "self reliant conservative", be down at the Socialist gub'mint unemployment-welfare-food stamp office with both hands out, chanting Gimme gimme gimme for every dollar you could get.

You can deny it all you want, but hunger and the spectre of homelessness makes Socialists out of everybody, no matter how conservative and Capitalist they claim to be.

Well many don't come here for that, unfortunately... I am sure you've seen many in your time, especially when you were moderating/admin..

On a brighter note I went for a hike on Friday & still a bit sore but was awesome to get out.. Trail was almost vacant other than about 10 ppl hiking/tail running & a couple horses..

emergency assistance is not socialism. Socialism is a continuous sharing of monies and things.
Emergency assistance is a limited benefit for emergency needs

the community pool is closed ( ridiculous since the virus doesn't survive in sun and chlorinated water)
I even suggested we sign up for times - 1 person at a time for an hour of something.
the DAMN LAWYERS told my HOA "don't do it -you could be liable"

But there is a guy in the neighborhood that I clean out and wash and wax his car 1x a week -
in return I get 45 minutes of pool time a day..

I hear what you are saying -if one cannot get out and do some vigorous exercise the body gets out of whack, and insomnia sets in.
Another reason to open the beaches!

Sadly it is understandable he would suggest it do to liabilities..

no doubt. the implications of the shutdown and the COVID are going to be a yuge mess.
Thy can pass some laws limiting liabilities,but you how lawyers can work the angles.
