The Black National Anthem

Like I said...

...if you cannot see it, it is because you are blind or a moron.
So, you've got nothing...ok, but I did want to give you a chance;)
Happy 4th weekend...hope you've got fun plans;):usflag::usflag::usflag::usflag: God Bless America!
United We Stand! In God We Trust!

Does pulling down monuments of old *non-confederate* white guys part of this ‘cosmetic change’?

Seriously, at what point are things going to become ‘not ok’ with you?

Bartender just keeps setting them up.

There have been 17 black head coaches in the NFL. Most of them fairly recent I think. Once you start hearing the names, you go 'oh yeah, forgot about him'. Denny Green, Lovey Smith, Art Shell, Herm Edwards...... actually a longer list than I had thought. Still a long way to go.
so what do you want to do about it? a black national anthem? will that make it somehow better?
How about we just let things take it's course, as more and more black coaches are hired

The actual reality is blacks dominate the NFL lol.

Where and when have blacks ever been ‘less oppressed’ than they are now, here, in this country? The politically incorrect truth is that 90% of the problems the black community face are self-inflicted. But we aren’t allowed to talk about that.

But maybe another symbolic gesture like having a segregated anthem will fix things.
Poverty is hard to overcome. You are obviously undereducated on how hard it is to rise above the situation you are born in for the majority of us.

You show little compassion for people.

Being less oppressed doesn’t mean equal.

are black players more from a poverty background then whites?\
Do you have the numbers on that - or are you just emoting?

This is a religious hymn just like the Battle Hymn Of The Republic. Nothing solely "black" regarding its content.
Same sentiment. Same prayer. Giving God the praise, thanks and glory for our great country.

Both hymns should be played as far as I'm concerned.....PLUS the National Anthem :awesome::usflag:

Lift Every Voice and Sing
James Weldon Johnson, J. Rosamond Johnson
Lift ev'ry voice and sing
'Til earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list'ning skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on 'til victory is won
Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
'Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast
God of our weary years
God of our silent tears
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light
Keep us forever in the path, we pray
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee
Shadowed beneath Thy hand
May we forever stand
True to our God
True to our native land

I once did an informal survey of professional colleagues on what their parent's background was. Almost every colleague had parents who were college graduates - many of their parents had advanced degrees. I only found one person from a legitimate blue collar family background. One female colleague had a father who was an auto mechanic, and she was the first person in her family to graduate college.

That showed me right there that the United States has a caste system, and one's opportunity to advance to a higher caste is limited and fraught with difficulties

It’s amazing how many people aren’t aware of it.

Notice the words ‘parents’ in your first paragraph.

One of the biggest impediments to ‘making it’ is being raised in a single parent home.

Owens is a former NFL player.

Let’s see a raise of hands—who knew there was a black national anthem? Me neither. But they’re going to play it on opening day in every NFL game. That is, if they don’t find a reason to call it off. Will probably depend on what Trump’s poll numbers are doing in August.

On the one hand I don’t know why I should care about it way or the other since they don’t show the National Anthem on TV anyway. And it’s just a song [hardly anyone will know the words to] so it’s like whatever.

But then I think of the messaging. Black National anthem. Doesn’t that imply black nationalism? There is no white national anthem—it’s just the National Anthem. Everyone sings it because we are One Nation Under God. THAT IS WHY WE SING IT.

Isn’t that kind of like...oh, what word am I looking for...divisive, that’s it. It’s divisive on its face.

I don’t want to hear another word about how Trump is dividing the country.

Whatever happens on Trump's watch, Trump owns.

Deal with it, snowflake.

Does that mean Trump owned the economy before Fauci got ahold of it lol?

And he owns the V recovery?

He owns it all. Someone isn't keeping up w/ the CBO.

And good luck w/ the "Fauci economy" argument this fall. Makes Trump seem weak & ineffectual - and isn't intellectually honest, anyway.

If Trump fired Fauci in April he would have been thrown out of office by May 1st.

If voters are sophisticated enough to understand that, well lol.

Fauci has nothing to do with the economy.

The economy is fucked in large part because of Trump's mishandling of the pandemic.

But of course his brainwashed cult couldn't care less.

Could you?

How is he "dividing the country"? If you were to allow one person to define how you think about everyone in the entire country, that doesn't say very much for you, does it?

That is all he does. He is bitching today about black lives matter and those who want to bring down confederate statues. Is that seeking unity? He is throwing an anti-left shit fit under the Rushmore heads. He is a divider in chief. He ran on it and governed with it.
