Should Obama Legalize weed

I know in the Depression they had to scrap the whole you can't sell liquor/prohibition thing because everyone was depressed and wanted to get drunk. I think Obama should follow suit and legalize weed, so during our next depression if people want to they can get stoned without the fear of jailtime. Plus if the Government sells it we will make a lot of money and save the country.:rolleyes:.....think of the types of weed companies that will spring up and even on the stock market thats some investment that wont lose out eh?

I remember reading that the cigarette and alcohol companies had trademarked some names back in the 60's. But that could be an urban myth.


Sure he should legalize it. And then throw a heavy tax on it (like the rest of the "sin taxes").

Plus having it legalized would be a huge boost for the grocery stores and bakeries.
 
It would cut back on crime too. :cool: (for the record I don't smoke weed) I noticed that after the market really started going bad that alcohol sales went up 6%.

I used to smoke quite a bit. Now its only on rare special occasions.

But I agree, people turn to whatever they can to cope. For many its escaping via drugs or alcohol.

legalized, licensed, taxed and adult responsibility not to use while operating machinery

imo, anything less is prior restraint and violates the constitution

adults must be responsible for their decisions and pay the consequences for reckless acts

Get real .. Obama is a pussy and he's not going to take a stand on anything .. except Israel .. but what else would one expect from the first jewish president.

Why? If you're going to decriminalize it, why shouldn't you take the next logical step and legalize it?

If you decriminalize it you still have to deal with the criminal black market selling the drug nor would you have any health and safety standards for safe distribution of the product that you would if it were legalized.

BTW, Obama can't legalize pot. Only congress can do that.

If you decriminalize it you have removed the legal consequences. The controls would be removed. Why not legalize it completely and add some control to the distribution and sale. Plus you would produce a huge revenue.
 
You would greatly reduce crime in some areas, also.

We do have to face facts people, it is the largest cash crop, overtaken corn!

It would be a great idea for revenue, crime , prison crowding, economic recovery and help lots of people avoid alcohol and prescription drugs (for the record I do smoke pot).

I think its a long overdue idea, that should be put into effect as soon as Obama/Clinton take control, afterall bill's an avid pothead....think of the chronic the government could grow & sell, the profits will be tremendous!
