TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Joe The Plumber is putting down his wrenches and picking up a reporter's notebook.

The Ohio man who became a household name during the presidential campaign says he is heading to Israel as a war correspondent for the conservative Web site pjtv.com.

I'm confused. Where did he get the qualifications to be a writer, let alone a war correspondent? He didn't even have a plumber's licence while he was working in that field. It's hard to understand why someone would actually pay him to do this -- maybe he's paying his own way. He's certainly milked this instant celebrity bit for more than it could possibly be worth! Then again, maybe not, it seems.
 
never underestimate the power of celebrity. I heard anni lennox on the radio this am. Celebs seems to always be spot on with there analysis of political situations.

Annie Lennox! Haven't heard that name in longer than I care to admit. This is the problem with celebrities voicing their views in wide public forums, as others discussed on another thread. The greater weight given to their opinions by a large enough segment of the general public is the reason that celebs, sports figures in particular, are given such humongous advertising deals. That carries over into the perception of their political views, and anything else they care to endorse. Yet we don't value education. Sad.

It crossed my mind because I realized that you are itching to be a reporter. Joe gets the job because Obama helped him to fame, not because he has the cred.

Dear Darla,

I know how you have been dying to visit Israel to get in touch with your Inner religious self and there is no better time then now to get a great deal on a vacation.

Right now you can get a steal staying at at some of the beautiful hotels Israel has to offer such as the Park Hotel in the seaside resort of Netanya which was totally renovated after it ran into some "maintenance problems" in 2002. Or you could stay near the old city where the streets are alive with history and the markets haven't been bombed for over 6months.

This opportunity wont last long and dont forget to bring your burka

got me? I guess after Palin any Republican is qualified to do anything?
 
I remember when he said he "hadn't decided" who to vote for, and a few days later, endorsed John McCain. Whoah! That was a surprise! Totally not a ploy to appeal to independent voters!
