State Senator Wants To Make Cursing A Felony - Fuck

South Carolina Senator Robert Ford (D) has introduced a bill that would make it a felony to communicate a profane term in public. So, yes, the would-be governor Ford (yes, he's running in 2010) wants to make it a state responsibility to arrest and penalize folks $5,000 or 5 years in jail for cursing in public.

State Senator Robert Ford is hoping to outlaw lewd language and is pushing for a bill that would prohibit profanity. Under the pre-filed bill, profanity could land you in jail for up to 5 years and/or cost you up to $5,000 in fines.

Which words are exactly considered profane is still unclear, but the bill does have a list of qualifications for profanity including words or actions that are lewd, vulgar or indecent in nature.

"It is unlawful for a person in a public forum or place of public accommodation wilfully and knowingly to publish orally or in writing, exhibit, or otherwise make available material containing words, language, or actions of a profane, vulgar, lewd, lascivious, or indecent nature.

A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

LOL

What a fucking asshole piece of shit this motherfucker is.

Hahah, brings me back to the old school... Cusswords by Too Short

Wasn't an archaic similar law in Michigan abolished a couple of years ago? It was something that had been on the books and simply forgotten until some guy fell out of his canoe and responded in an understandable fashion, but was overheard by someone who objected to his language.

I can't see something like this passing, seriously. On the other hand there's a bylaw in the city where I work against certain language and gestures (like flipping somebody off in traffic). Of course they have all sorts of bylaws that are never enforced; this is just another "feelgood" thing that could be hauled out if somebody wanted to use it.

See there are Dem bible thumpers too.

Uhhh....yep. I be one of Dem. :)

Seriously, I don't think this law has a chance in passing but I am happy to see that there are folks still out there who think like me. Not that I would want to pass a law to stop cussing but I do find it deplorable and never see a need for it.

I lean more libertarian on this one. I think you should be allowed to smack the curser once for each curse word. with no legal reprisal.

Also. When you need to use government authority to hide real economic conditions by hiring police people to "put to work", you need more crimes for them to fight.

Notice all the cop shows on? And the police forensics degrees being pushed?

We are headed for a very unfun naziistic time in america, I fear.

Better make other things that make us feel good illegal then.

Exercise.
Camping.
Skiing...

You know, fun things.

No Damo just an additional health ins charge for those who ski and such becuase of the increased risk factor.
Just business you know.

I'm not sure even I could vote Democrat in that race. I would sit it out.

Hopefully he doesn't win the primaries. There are way too many conservatives out there, even polluting the Democratic party. Get with your own kind, fuckers.

Why is it deplorable?
