I guess that pesky US Constitution saying there is no religious requirement to hold the office is just going to be ignored by those who want to scream about this one.

Not at all. He made a point of getting a specific bible of a man who he holds in high regard and using it for his inauguration. The fact that they redid the swearing in was trivial.

Edit: His second swearing in was done without a bible, so that means that he understands that he can use his faith to guide him but he is the head of a secular government.

So he makes a big deal of it in front of the public, but then tosses out those convictions when it's not convenient. Why am I not surprised? It was a pattern in his entire campaign.

Exactly what conviction did he toss out? He didn't deny being a christian. He didn't go against any christian principles. He took the oath of office with Lincoln's bible, and then they decided to retake the oath to avoid any hint on impropriety due to the misspoken lines, and they didn't have the bible handy.

I think this is a prime example of making mountains out of molehills. I guess if this is the worst you can say about him, he is far ahead of the previous president.

Salon is nothing like Drudge, but that's irrelevant...if you know what a screen shot is. If you don't, then I guess this would be a confusing situation for you.

Is Drudge complaining? He personally doesn't even comment on it one way or the other.....

So I think I'll hold that apology for another time....though there may be someone complaining somewhere, nothing in the US post even remotely constitutes righties complaining...

For the record, I thought Obama's speech was excellent. One thing that was refreshing, is that he can get away with quote after quote from the Bible, and no one goes ballistic because he is a D. One of the fringe benefits of having a Dem president.

I can no longer resist pointing out that there have only been 42 white males prior to Obama. For some reason, we count that oaf Cleveland twice just because he lost once before getting re-elected.
