This is insanity’: Walter Reed physician among critics of Trump drive-by visit


Donald Trump drew immediate rebuke from doctors on Sunday afternoon for an “insane” surprise drive-by visit to supporters outside the Walter Reed military medical center, where the president is being treated for an infection of Covid-19.

At least two other people, probably Secret Service agents, wearing respirators and eye protection, were seen on video in the vehicle accompanying Trump, who was also masked, during the short drive.

James Phillips, doctor of emergency medicine at George Washington University, who is an attending physician at Walter Reed, called the stunt “insanity”.


“Every single person in the vehicle during that completely unnecessary Presidential ‘drive-by’ just now has to be quarantined for 14 days. They might get sick. They may die,” he wrote in a tweet.

“For political theater. Commanded by Trump to put their lives at risk for theater. This is insanity.”

In a second tweet, Phillips added: “That Presidential SUV is not only bulletproof, but hermetically sealed against chemical attack. The risk of COVID19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is astounding. My thoughts are with the Secret Service forced to play.”

Lol, it sounds like the left feels pretty threatened by the optics of that drive by and the supporters. The massive support for Trump has been a thorn in the side of lefties since Trump announced his campaign.

My goodness - are you guys all brand new to COVID? Are you just learning about it?

Wear a mask if you can't distance. But, if you have it, don't expose anyone else unnecessarily if at all possible - whether you wear a mask or not. NO ONE ever said a mask is a guarantee.

What Trump did is pathetic. Just like his rallies - once again, he doesn't care about exposing others to risk.

I have a thread going here on this forum about how masks do not prevent the transmission of viruses that has almost 1000 posts of lefties going nuts. I have another thread asking for evidence that proves masks stop viruses and again lefties are going nuts. Neither thread is about reducing transmission, they are about stopping or preventing. Why do you suppose lefties are fighting me in these threads that are specifically about stopping or preventing transmission?

The left has done everything to present "the mask" as the be all, end all with vitriolic condemnation of anyone who does not wear one.
Now it's...well.........there's really no guarantee. But, the the love of their life Fauxi says, "If you can not socially distance, then wear a mask."
So wear one and you're an infidel, don't wear one and you're an infidel. This is why the left gets no respect. They just take take a single stand,
stay on point and back it up. No wonder the country won't buy into that kind of confusion. Is it is or is it ain't? You can't give orders by offering
multiple choice.

It's a precaution. So is washing hands. So is distancing.

None of those things are guarantees. And literally no one ever said they were.

What would such a threat portend for the leftys? Try and make sense. That ride around the block was political, like every other thing Daffy does. It put some people's health in jeopardy. Trump has no trouble doing that.
 
Great to see the president make an appearance for his supporters, that must have been fantastic for them. I usually get excited when I see video of a flyover before his rallies.

I am not the least bit surprised to see lefties trying to make something of this. All this Trump support has to sting when Biden can't get more than a dozen supporters to show up to one of his events.
