i wonder how many politicians would survive a tax audit unscathed

it does not matter their politics or party

actually i wonder how many of us would survive a tax audit unscathed - that is why i pay a tax cpa to do our returns...the new simple tax forms...right

Accountants view their role as to ensure you pay as little money as possible. As is becoming abundantly clear, that is not necessarily in your best interest if you have hopes of becoming an appointed official.

Podesta was on the Daily Show fielding questions from Stewart and Stewart asked why Podesta wasn't staying on after the transition.

Podesta said, "Geithner isn't the only guy who used Turbotax to file." Implying that he wouldn't survive similar scrutiny either.

how, unfortunately, true

i don't understand how these guys can be out there (dems) calling for tax raises and then not paying their own. seems there are too many politicians from both parties that believe once elected they are above the law.
 
I don't think any IRS agent would need to look too hard on any taxpayer's return to find some issues. Where it becomes a crime is when it is done purposefully and with the intent of defrauding the government.

Make a mistake and the worse that will happen is you will have to pay the back taxes and if you are a common citizen you will have to pay penalties and interest. If you are politically powerful, then you can get away with the purposeful defrauding of the government and if you get caught you only have to pay the taxes... maybe.
