George Washington had surgery when he was in office. Grover Cleveland had a tumor removed from his mouth. Woodrow Wilson nearly died of the 1918 Spanish flu. Reagan was in a hospital bed with a bullet wound and ran the country. Want me to go on? So don't feed us this "can't run the country" shit.

There is ZERO enthusiasm for Biden. What is interesting is that the whole reason for cutting Bernie off by the knees was that "Biden could get black voters". Biden is underperforming with black voters. In some polls, he is doing worse than Crooked Hillary did. That is devastating.

There is ZERO enthusiasm for Biden on this board or anywhere. And if you are honest, you know it and it worries you.

Sure there are lots on the left who hate Trump and they will turn out to vote based on that, but that isn't enough to drive people to the polls. You can dismiss it if you want, but every Trump supporter I know can't wait to go to the polls. They will literally crawl across glass to pull the lever for Trump. You can't say the same for Joe

Trump caught it due to his casual disrespect for it. When he caught Corona, he should have used the 25th and made Pence acting president. He did not. That suggests he may not have been sick at all. He did not get it. Or, he had it and refused to do the right thing. In any case, this was yet another Trump fuckup.

Washington? Do you think that is relevant? Cleveland and Wilson did the wrong thing therefore you think it is OK for Trump to? Trump was on his back with a high fever and a ventilator doing his breathing. I will hand you the "he could not run the country". It is a fact. Reagan did the 25th when he got surgery and twice for colonoscopies. Trump was out longer than a colon investigation.

Agreed. He's been acting like he's high on drugs ever since leaving the hospital. I thought it would wear off in a day or two, but it appears it's the "treatment" he's receiving. Remember JFK and Dr. Feelgood?

Reagan was out for a few days there. He underwent surgery, so was unable to authorize a nuclear strike. There was some disagreement about who was in charge at that point, and for a while the launch codes were lost. They were finally found next to his shoes, where they had dropped when his clothing was cut off his body.

It was a textbook case of how not to handle a temporary power transition. And believing that Reagan was able to continue to run the country, even while in surgery, is the wrong message to carry away from this all.

trump does not want to admit he will one day die, or leave office in another manner. This is causing a danger for America.

I didn't think Bernie had that much of the Black vote. :dunno:

That biden may lose does not concern me as much as the apathy..

Running biden was a sad choice, what is even sadder, is he was the best choice that party had to run w/.........

Lets see if we can recap what was happening:
1) The President was almost dead.
2) The nuclear launch codes were completely missing.
3) The guy carrying the nuclear football (which Reagan kept separate from the actual launch codes) was missing, and had gone home.
4) Different cabinet members were claiming to be in control.

I am sure there were a few more mess ups that I am forgetting.

I do not blame the Reagan Administration. Over time, people stop thinking about contingencies, and get sloppy. We are learning the hard way that we were all getting sloppy.

But that brings us back to it is just common sense to tighten up the contingency planning.

I'll take your word for it that those statements are true. The point being is we're agreed there was confusion about Command & Control. That problem has been corrected in the past 30 years; Fucking Moron-in-Chief or not.

The Presidency isn't just a man but an institution. When the security of 328 million Americas are dependent upon one person in a hostile world with nuclear weapons, it's best to have some insurance and oversight.
