R B Ginsburg in hospital

Thank God McCain is not president. I hope she does not have pancratic cancer. Thats what killed my father last year.

She had surgery on a pancreatic mass.

How serious is that (I mean life threatening or is this something you usually recover from)? I believe a woman in our office just had a similar procedure and was gone for a couple of months but I guess I'm ignorant on its true effects.

I guess since this is a political board that is an expected response but why not just wish the woman well?

Pancreatic cancer has a 5 year survival rate of 5%. Most are dead within a year. Ginsberg's was caught unusually early, so her rate of survival rises to between 10 and 30 percent.

If they did a Whipple procedure, it means they caught it early and it has not spread. Survival from the surgery itself is not great, but her odds of returning to a productive life are poor, and living 5 more years is unlikely.

They did not catch it early with my father... he died 10 months after diagnosis. His former girlfriend died 3 months after she was diagnosed.

They are comfirming it is cancer, but was captured early. They only do surgery when it is early.

I suspect she will be retireing soon.

Hillary for supreme court justice :clink:

I think her taxes are paid up.
that seems to be the most important criteria for nominees lately.
