Who's already voted?

And when they do it anyways? How did it help me then?

Do you make animal sacrifices?

Well, let's just say, if the Bernie faithful didn't sit out 2016 in droves we might not have had a Trump presidency. The turnout numbers were pitiful. I don't really want to vote for things like president anymore either until it's a legitimate vote. Pretty screwed up a candidate could win a state by a small number and they essentially still flush the votes of the lesser. They literally mean nothing. Talk about being disenfranchised. Still, it's a good idea to vote local. The numbers are a lot closer where even 1 or 2% thinking like you can shift the outcome by not voting.

Yeah but the outcome doesn't matter. Fucked is still fucked.

The point proves more residents are leaving California than entering.

"California is seeing more residents leave the state than ever before. Census data shows approximately 691,000 people moved from California to another U.S. state in 2018. About 501,000 people moved from another state into California over the same time period, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's annual American Community Survey."

"Between 2007 and 2016, some 5 million residents moved in to California and 6 million people moved out to other states — a net loss of about 1 million residents

Here are the most popular destinations for Californians moving out of state, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's annual American Community Survey:

Texas: 86,164 people
Arizona: 68,516 people
Washington: 55,467 people
Nevada: 50,707 people
Oregon: 43,058 people

It's weird man, the numbers are what they are yet people want to fight against them. Like your article laid out, for years more people have left California than come to California within the U.S. The overall population in California has grown because of immigration and births. Those are just facts.

Or I'm driving and your question is retarded.

It is not retarded. You benefit from services voted on by politicians we elected and you don't vote because they do nothing for you. Seems hypocritical (as you drive on public highways).

Some don't want to admit people are leaving a liberal state (especially if they are going to Texas).

You really do sound like you've embraced the Goth mentality. You still need a Goth humor shirt.

It depends upon how many others also voted against it. If you lost 10 to 1, yeah, you're fucked. Especially when it comes to raising taxes again. If it was closer to 1 to 1 and you still lost, keep pushing to avoid a second tax increase a couple years later because more voters are with you. If they just give up, then all of you are fucked in a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The joke I've heard is every thing person in Austin is from California.

We all know why the numbers are the way they are. Young people come to California to pursue their dreams. You want to be in entertainment you go to L.A. You want to be in the tech world come to the Bay Area. When you're single and in your 20's you don't care how you live so 5 people will live in a 2 bedroom apartment because that's what it takes to afford it. But ultimately people want their own space and then get married and start a family. To get a home costs $1.5m. A lot of people can't afford that. And unless you bought in the '70's when things were more affordable it's not easy for working class or even many middle class people to stay here. It's why we have such wealth inequality.

It's why more people leave the state than come from within the U.S. But you have some of the best and brightest from around the world who come here as well (along with those who come illegally) and that's why our population grows (along with births).

But yeah, people who claim to care about the working and middle class have created an amazing state for the wealthy but not so much for those who aren't.

Agreed, but California should work harder to keep those Californians in their state.

They don't need to change anything if they already think it is a progressive utopia.

It is lower than average income workers that are leaving because they can't afford to stay.

"Just vote harder! Keep voting until voting works!"

Yeah, that's the sound of someone who makes animals sacrifices to the Sun God for a good harvest.

People aren't getting married or starting families though. Especially now.

Anyone else early voted yet?

How was your voting experience? Did you do it in person? Long wait?

We dropped our vote-by-mail ballots in our township's lock box two weeks ago. Our ballots were verified and logged and will be tallied on Election Day.

That reminds me. Saw a discussion here the other night where some RW idiot was claiming that just as many (R)s were voting by mail as (D)s in Michigan. This cannot be true, as it is a felony to open, look at, or count ballots in Michigan until election day. There is no way to know how we have voted until then.

In the Bay Area people definitely wait longer than many other parts of the country to get married that's for sure. But they still do. (everything is getting thrown out the window during COVID though, you are not wrong there)

Why? How does it make my life better?

Probably there is nothing that can accomplish that. Voting to legalize rec MJ though might be something to consider.

If you vote, at least you've earned the right to complain bitterly for the next some years if your guy didn't win.

We can still complain bitterly even if we don't vote.

This year the loser will be complaining for the next four years that the winner cheated.
