As parts of the country run out of hospital beds (again), I believe that people who do not protect themselves and others against the virus (by wearing masks, maintaining social distance, avoiding large gatherings, and hand washing) should be denied care. If they can wear a mask at their Klan rallies, they can wear one in Walmart.

Republicans ignored the coronavirus and allowed black communities to be ravaged by it. Republicans seek to dismantle labor and environmental regulations, which directly and negatively impacts black Americans. Republicans are opposed to reforming law enforcement organizations, which continues to allow the indiscriminate murder of black (and other) Americans by corrupt and/or undertrained officers. Republicans oppose a living minimum wage trapping millions of black (and other) Americans in a cycle of poverty even as they work two and three jobs to stay alive. Republicans support tax benefits for rich individuals, corporations, and Wall Street traders while refusing to provide basic human rights and services to Americans because, well, they're non-white and poor, so who gives a shit, right? Public education policy. Women's rights. LGBTQ rights. Voting rights. The only people who benefit from Republican policies are old, rich, straight, white men and the feckless women who are attached to them by marriage or convenience.

My comment was more philosophical than practical. A medical staff will have little or no way or knowing whether a patient seeking COVID treatment took the precautions that have been recommended for at least eight fucking months (although I can spot most mouth-breathing, science-denying Trump supporters from miles away). I wouldn't want to impose that burden on them anyway. My point remains that those people shouldn't have access to care. They had no consideration for society in the first place. They rolled the dice. Hopefully they'll make it in their homes, by themselves, without professional medical care. If not, maybe they'll teach a lesson to someone else.

I'll guarantee you that if your relative or family member or best friend ended up getting infected and died a few days later, it would not matter to you that they died from a complication from the virus or what ended up on the coroners report- You would just say, "This virus killed my own Dad"!
And you'd be right in saying it!
I think you also make a point that some coroner offices are going to try and hide the real cause of death, and others that will highlight the complication that caused the death came as a direct result of the virus- and that it depends on the coroner's politics.
For instance, if it is a rural Republican community, the coroner is more-than-likely some Trump loving asshole, and may not mention the virus at all, and if it is a large urban metroplex- THEY WILL BE SURE TO HIGHLIGHT THE VIRUS AS THE CAUSE- as they should.
But taking what I just said into accord, the death total from this virus may be over twice what we actually think it is- JUST BECAUSE OF SOME OF THESE TRUMP LOVING ASSHOLES THAT ARE CORONERS TRYING TO DOWNPLAY THIS VIRUS TO PLEASE DONALD TRUMP!
