I am not a Democrat...and I do not hate Trump.

I consider him to be an insult to America...a childish, frenzied, incompetent, relatively stupid, unprincipled, classless boor.

I suspect many people, Democrats and Republicans alike, feel that same way about the abomination. You are interpreting those feelings as hate.

I do not understand how any sane person could possible vote to give that disgusting, useless lump of flesh a second chance to destroy our Republic.

There are seveal reasons why he was elected:
Globalization meant some of the dems base lost jobs as mfg went over seas and the dems ignored it.
Automation displaced alot of jobs, 300,000 robots have displaced over 900,000 jobs
Cultural norms have changed, young Americans are increaseingly atheist and accepting of various forms of diversity that older Americans find abhorent.

That is not that hard to explain, Unk.

This nation is peopled by LOTS of disgruntled, angry people. Assholes like Trump appeal to them. Disgruntled, angry people have a right to vote...and they gave their vote to that incompetent, classless boor. They had the numbers (through the Electoral College) to win...so he was elected.

Luckily, there are more educated, sane, reasonable people who vote...and who seriously out-voted the disgruntled, angry ones in this electioin. We dodged a bullet...at least for the moment.

That may not hold for the next election. The people of 1930's Germany were not stupid...but enough of them were disgruntled and angry to allow Hitler to take control.

It would be a huge mistake to underestimate the angry, disgruntled fools who would be willing to destroy our nation in order to ease their discomfort. They may have lost a battle...but may, ultimately, win the war.

I'm lucky. I'll have croaked before they totally fuck up this country.

In 2016 both candidates were assholes and appealed to assholes. This election was very close too with only a 3.6% popular vote margin.

Why do you think so many people are disgruntled and angry?

Note that 1930s Germany was under the extremely harmful Treaty of Versailles. Why are Americans angry?

If you mean the election that just happened, it was far from "close." The popular vote favored Biden by over 5,000,000 votes...and rising. The electoral vote was close, but the Abomination and his puppets considered the 2016 EC vote to be a blow-out...and this election had the same spread.
