The Obama Economic Rebound

...begins. The Messiah!

I think this was caused in part by all of the give Bush the Boot parties that took place in January. I know I attended a few. And in New York, Salons were running "Bye Bye Bush" specials for waxing. They were selling like hotcakes!

I feel as if I'm in Xanadu! Oh the righties must be steaming! That makes it even better!

U.S. consumer spending rebounded in January, snapping six months of declines, and incomes rose unexpectedly, boosted by salary increases for government employees, a government report showed on Monday.

The Commerce Department said spending rose by 0.6 percent, the largest increase since May, after falling by an unrevised 1 percent in December.

Incomes advanced by 0.4 percent, also posting the biggest increase since May, after December's 0.2 percent decrease.

The department attributed to rise in income to pay rises for federal civilian and military employees, as well as cost-of-living adjustments to several government transfer payments programs. It said excluding these factors, incomes would have increased by 0.2 percent in January.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast spending rising by 0.4 percent and incomes slipping 0.2 percent.

Savings jumped to an annual rate of $545.5 billion, the highest level since monthly records began in 1959. The savings rate surged 5 percent in January, the biggest advance since March 1995, as households uncertain about the economy prefer to conserve their cash.

dow futures are below 7000 now, but THIS up above is a rebound? good god, you'll grab on to anything and claim it a total victory, wouldn't you? we should call you 'Obama rose' now.

So you believe the economy is in great shape?

Wow, some good economic news and it's greeted with such bitterness.

Yeah, that's what I said, "THE ECONOMY IS GREAT!"

Dummy.

It's good news. I know that Obama-haters of various stripes, mostly Republicans, but definitely LIbertarians too, are going to hate any good economic news, but for real Americans, it feels good! :clink:

Government employees get wage increases and you believe that means the economy is doing great? that's so woefully ignorant it's sad.

Gee, isn't a shame that the Republicans took such a clear stand against that stimulus bill? I'd love to share "credit" with them, as they did w/ the Dems for the Iraq War.

Looks like Limbaugh is going to have a short stint as party leader...

So you're declaring "Mission Accomplished" ? Think twice about that one.

Imagine what's going to happen when it really starts to kick in. I hope there aren't going to be mass suicides. :(

Why should I think twice about it?

I am confident. The economy is going to rebound this year. We may not have huge growth for a couple of years, but we will have growth in 2010, and the recovery will slowly build.

By the end of this, they'll be talking about getting rid of term limits for the Presidency.

I will go on record as saying I am totally for that right now. And for Obama being grandfathered into that legislation.

When the stimulus kicks in we'll get another boob job from Piyush, thereby setting Louisiana back another 20yrs.

Because we have a massive house of cards of fake values that has collapsed. Plus, our "commitment to globalization leadership" means there will be no american job growth as well. at least not jobs based on real actual consumer demand. There may be more fake green government jobs, and Obama Youth Security squadron leaders, but other than that, the outlook is bleak unless we change the anti-american psychosis of those in charge.

and if you don't think Obama gets about 36months to show the growth your the dumbest brick in West Texas.

I know that you die hard socialists love big government and nanny state politics, but there is NOTHING great about an economy that has ONLY raised the salary of government/nanny state workers.
