Can the country be unified?

You see the Democratic Party has been saving this nation repeatedly all my life

Yet you guys seem to hate them

When Democrats say they want unity, what they mean is they don't want to face any consequences for their 4 year criminal rampage.

But my feeling is that no sane person would unify with the Democrats & their New Third Reich Party.

SPOT on! They set the table with division and derision. They can now EAT at it. When they say "unity", they actually mean submit to their agenda.

Writing personal attacks is not debate. Make ad hominem attacks is not debate. if you use either I will not respond.

All true, but such things are 1) part of the Internet experience and 2) an excellent indicator of the person's personality and intellect. In evince's case, she's intelligent but has a severe attention whore and drama queen issue. The result is her style of posting, her frequent posts with no other purpose than to draw attention to herself and her "anger" AKA drama queen persona.

Further dissecting her response to you; notice how she makes two claims without backing up either one. The second one is also a personal attack.

Personally, I look at the order in which people post things. Specifically, if they are posting a personal attack, do they lead with it or do they post it further down? It's very telling. Obviously backing up insults or claims with a fact or a reference is very telling too.

How the oligarchy wins: lessons from ancient Greece

)This article is more than 3 years old)

While the ruling class must remain united for an oligarchy to remain in power, the people must also be divided so they cannot overthrow their oppressors. Oligarchs in ancient Greece thus used a combination of coercion and co-optation to keep democracy at bay. They gave rewards to informants and found pliable citizens to take positions in the government.

The most interesting discussion is how ancient oligarchs used information to preserve their regime. They combined secrecy in governance with selective messaging to targeted audiences, not unlike our modern spinmasters and communications consultants. They projected power through rituals and processions.
