Since I'm not a mentally ill LGBTQ that pitches a hissy fit because people don't agree with what they chose to be, I have no need to seek mental health. I realize all those letters represent someone with a mental illness. You've yet to do so.
What does that even mean

Since the statement about mental illnesses referred to the OP topic, it wasn't necessary for it to apply.

I did. GLAAD exaggerated the number Americans under 40 identifying as gay.
"The expansion in the number of Americans who identify as LGBT is driven primarily by the cohort of millennials, defined as those born between 1980 and 1999. The percentage of millennials who identify as LGBT expanded from 7.3% to 8.1% from 2016 to 2017, and is up from 5.8% in 2012. By contrast, the LGBT percentage in Generation X (those born from 1965 to 1979) was up only .2% from 2016 to 2017. There was no change last year in LGBT percentage among baby boomers (born 1946 through 1964) and traditionalists (born prior to 1946)."
Agreed. While I understand their zeal to push acceptance, it's wrong to willfully distort the truth.
Also note that the 8.1% figure is all LGBT, not a subset. The increasing number is due to public acceptance and probably accurate.
Regardless of what percentage of American society LGBT may be, they deserve 100% of American rights and privileges.

As Gallup pointed out in its initial estimate of the entire LGBT population in 2012, "Exactly who makes up the LGBT community and how this group should be measured is a subject of some debate," and "there are a number of ways to measure lesbian, gay, and bisexual orientation, and transgender status. Sexual orientation can be assessed by measuring identity as well as sexual behaviors and attractions." Thus, Gallup's methodology is not the only way to estimate the percentage of the population that is gay or lesbian. Still, all available estimates of the actual gay and lesbian population in the U.S. are far lower than what the public estimates, and no measurement procedure has produced any figures suggesting that more than one out of five Americans are gay or lesbian.
