Michigan Secretary of State Says Armed People Stood Outside Her Home

“As my four-year-old son and I were finishing up decorating the house for Christmas on Saturday night, and he was about to sit down to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas, dozens of armed individuals stood outside my home shouting obscenities and chanting into bullhorns in the dark of night,” Jocelyn Benson (D) said in a statement on Sunday night. “I have always been an energetic advocate for the right and importance of peaceful protests as enshrined in the United States Constitution, however there is a line crossed when gatherings are done with the primary purpose of intimidation of public officials who are carrying out the oath of office they solemnly took as elected officials.”

“They shouted baseless conspiracy theories about the election, and in videos uploaded to social media, at least one individual could be heard shouting ‘you’re murderers’ within earshot of her child’s bedroom. This mob-like behavior is an affront to basic morality and decency.”

All we heard all summer is how Dems avoid condemning riots and intimidation - when in fact Dems were doing just that.

Here was a chance for conservatives on this board to walk the walk - and all we get is a bunch of lame "they do it too!" defenses and deflections. This is a long thread, and there literally isn't even one of them that can muster a "this really isn't cool."

True colors. And hypocrites.

Pretty much. As I say all the time, it's a confession, not a defense.

Folks are awful when they do it. But for those on the right there's a bit of Schadenfreude really, some feelings of justice when somebody on the left is making the same complaints they hear from folks on the right. It may be awful, but I don't feel all that sorry for her, mostly because all the folks saying how terrible those folks are ignore when say, some idiot launches firecrackers into a dinner party at a restaurant serving folks outside.

She was just doing her job. It's ridiculous to have people out on her lawn on a Saturday night yelling through megaphones and trying to intimidate her into overturning legitimate election results.

Just as the judge I spoke of earlier was just doing his job. Seriously. You sound like a republican talking about yesterday, last week, just the other day, etc. to me.

What we clearly have on THIS particular thread are conservatives who were so vocal about what you just stated - where are the Dems condemning riots and intimidation? Why are they silent?

They didn't simply walk past the McCloskey's house. They attacked it, and threatened the lives of the McCloskeys.
