Personally, so far this is the best winter I’ve had in decades. I’m retired, get to indulge some hobbies and spend more time with the grandkids.

I’m not neurotic about COVID so the virus itself has literally no impact on my daily life. I can easily go the whole day without thinking about it but certain entities make it impossible to escape.

The real mental health unfolding tragedy is amongst kids and young people.

Kids need to be back in school and back amongst their peers everywhere, and now.
Does that include my 9 year old friend fighting for his life in an Anchorage hospital. His parent thought CoVID was no big deal as well. They are now learning a very hard lesson.

Since you are the infamous author of the "61" thread, a thread you asked the Mods to close, I have no doubt you are laughing your ass off at the prospect of over 500,000 Americans dead from COVID by April. This explains why you are claiming it's the best winter in decades.

Normal people are not "neurotic" about COVID any more than they were neurotic about terrorists following 9/11. They are rightfully concerned. Unlike you, most Americans do not consider half a million dead Americans to be entertainment. Only a truly demented or impaired individual would think so many deaths is entertainment.

OMG. I'm so sorry.
My heart is breaking. His identical twin is unable to be with him at the hospital, they have never been separated for this long. His grandmother told me he’s rearranging their room and cleaning it to be ready when Trey comes home. He had surgery again last night and I’m waiting to hear how he’s doing. This virus is no joke, and why was one twin so severely affected and the other is asymptomatic? It’s a crap shoot and a risk I’m not willing to take!

Bravo!

All my very best wishes to that friend, from the country with the biggest current death rate in the word except (I think) Lithuania.

That's going to be a very hard thing for them to live with if they lose their son because they rolled the dice on his life and lost.

Gods. Surgery?

What kind of surgery? The fact they are identical twins but with different reactions to COVID is very interesting. Sad for the family, but certain to be of interest to medical researchers investigating this new virus.

He has an infection in his hip, they drilled two holes to allow it to drain. The previous attempt failed, but according to my update, it is now draining and he’s eating. He’s lost 14 lbs. Thank goodness he was a little overweight.

I find it fascinating that they are identical twins but have had different reactions to the virus. Yes, I’m sure the pediatrician in Anchorage will be very interested! after they get Trey back on track.

Yes, two holes drilled in his hip to allow drainage. He has an infection that drugs aren’t helping even though they’ve identified the culprit, but they think the COVID is complicating things.

Oh dear. I will light a candle for him and the family.
