We teach students how to understand the U.S., not to love it — or hate it

America is socially regressive.
If you hate progressive modernity, this is the place to be.

To me, it's a great stretch of real estate with food and restaurants that I really like, but too many of the occupants, especially in flyover country, are devolved troglodytes.

America has a people problem. It has factions that will never be content sharing a government with one another.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vainglory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

Every nation in history has factions.

There's always Europe.

Is the United States the world’s greatest country? When asked that question eight years ago, 70 percent of American citizens surveyed said yes.

Now, a recent study by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs shows that only 54 percent answer affirmatively. Democrats are likelier to see their country as normal and Republicans are likelier to see it as uniquely great, but the decline is bipartisan. It’s also age-based: A similar Pew study found that respondents under 30 were markedly less enamored of their country than those over 50. Across the board, U.S. exceptionalism is faltering.

Already pushing that America is BAD again, are you?

You are not sure about a lot of things. That is obvious.

I won't argue with you on that point, but at least I'll admit it. A couple more things I'm not sure about are if your kids are gonna have an economically viable country to live in. I'm not sure if the brussels sprout-elect should put his hand on the bible on 20 Jan unless he comes clean about his dealings with china and Ukraine. I'm not sure if he'll be an effective president(POSITIVELY effective that is)with his son taking Manafort's place in prison. A couple things I AM sure about though: if biden does absolutely NOTHING until the chinese plague is in the rear view mirror, Trump was right. If 2 years from now, the economy turns around and THEN biden decides to re-regulate and raise taxes ala the obama years, he's gonna get an obama economy, AND he's gonna prove once more that Trump was right. At that time, I'm pretty damn sure that conditions will be "2016" ripe for the return of Trump or a Trump-like GOP candidate.
