Buy Euro now or wait till August?

Chapdog

Abreast of the situations
I got a trip that i still need about 3000 euros for coming up in August.

My dilemma is that last week I could have gotten a Euro for 1.37 (including all bank fees). This week its 1.47.

Who thinks the dollar is going to keep spiking down with all this magic money being created?

Is it conceivable that in August It could cost me 1.80 for a euro?

So it would be back to 2005 levels then? That's all you think it will do?

Europe is not exactly booming either. In fact they are worse then we are in alot of ways. I don't foresee some sort of catastrophic collapse of the dollar anytime soon.

But that being said the euro is gaining fast on the dollar over past week.

It's been going opposite for a bit. Let the newest spending settle before you buy otherwise you are buying into uncertainty. Europe will likely have to inflate a bit to get out of this too, it just seems they are following and hoping the US will buoy them up before they have to do it.

I have no idea what the Euro is going to do tomorrow and i'll wager neither do the finance ministers of the Eurozone.

It is quite possible that we'll see some nations bounced out of the Euro altogether if things continue to worsen and that can't be a good thing.

I think it's pretty much a gamble either way.

I tend to agree. I think my decision is I will do it in 3 doses. This week I will buy 1000 Euros, then in May/June 1000 more, then in August the last amount i need.

Europe is in disarray. They may very well be deflating soon, God knows all we've down and we're barely paddling above it. So that would make the money itself a good investment; of course, when money itself is a good investment, it's not a good thing for the economy, because people hold onto it instead of invest it in real investments. But that's Europes problem, not Americas.

Whatever you do, don't buy gold. Don't ditch something thats at the lowest price its been in decades to buy something thats is at the highest price its been in decades.

This is money i need for touring there in August. So its not investment. IM just trying to avoid my 4500 vacation into turning to a 6000 vacation.

Actually, i'd pay money to watch the face of the unsuspecting Irish taxi driver, after he drops you off at your hotel, when you open your suitcase and ask if he has change for an ingot of gold. :D
