Can the country be unified?

America is a democracy

That is what the founders created

They want people allowed to vote


They would hate this current Republican party
 
The State is unified, which is ultimately all that matters anymore. People will continue paying taxes and that's all the State cares about. But in terms of culture, no. There's no point of reconciliation and further no meaning to be gained in it. Hating your neighbors has the same effect as loving them, and one is much easier than the other now.

It will be difficult to divide the country. We have leftists/rightists living next door to each other and neither probably would move from where they are at. I won't move South, I like it here in Southern PA. and I'm not going anywhere.
