Among the insurrectionists who invaded the US Capitol on January 6th, at least 21 were current or former members of the military or law enforcement. The highest ranking was Larry Rendall Brock, a retired air force lieutenant colonel (not one of the “left behind”, then) who reached the Senate floor in body armor and carrying zip-tie handcuffs.

“Strong evidence supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials,” prosecutors said. There were social media posts by Brock and others that referred to a coming civil war.

What would make such a man dishonor his oath and disgrace his service, while no doubt claiming to be a conservative and a patriot? This must be due in large part to the campaign of lies waged by Trump and his echo chamber of far-right blogs and media.

Brock and his fellow seditionists are unlikely to get away with it. But does Trump have a free pass? He didn’t actually go to the Capitol ...

Lt Col Brock, USAF (rtd) told the New Yorker that he was in the Senate chamber because the president wanted him to be there. He didn’t say what the zip-tie handcuffs were for.

He wore tactical gear because “I didn’t want to get stabbed or hurt,” citing B.L.M. and Antifa. He claimed that he had found the zip-tie handcuffs on the floor.

That’s true. Thousands of patriots just happened to be visiting Washington DC when they decided it would be a good idea to invade Congress and chase the lawmakers into hiding. Nothing to do with Dear Leader - he said so.

How can anyone still call himself a Trump supporter without feeling shame? At what point do the remaining Trump supporters realize that Trump is a self-serving conman?

They don't see it because they prefer to get their "news" from biased RW sources. Fox will occasionally criticize #LOSER45 but only in a very mild fashion, meant to make themselves look non-partisan. Everything else that is revealed about Toadstool's actions, words, lies, hate-spewing, etc. is carefully tailored to appear to be LW lies about their glorious leader. The phone calls were perfect, and so was the Jan. 6th speech. :rolleyes: One way you can determine that this is true without soiling yourself by watching OANN, Fox, etc. is to watch the Cult's comments on various social media platforms. And here on JPP, too. They nearly all say exactly the same phrases when defending #TRE45ON. Guess where they got them?

That's false.

It indicates the failure of stereotyping. Some people on the left, and on the right for that matter, blame everything on Trump. But many others are better informed and understand the toxic hatred that Trump encouraged has existed for a long time.

The truth is trump has been spreading and continues to spread the Lie that he was somehow cheated out of a win, and that sets the stage for all the rest. The blame goes to those that have Lied so much that we now have a segment of our society that believe in an alternative reality and acts upon it, and this is no where near over.

I was never a Trump supporter but I did like some of the things he did when he first took office. That said there are many people who are disillusioned with things in this country from illegal immigration to police brutality. These people were looking for a leader and thought they had found one in Trump. He said the things they wanted to hear and turned a blind eye to reality.

This is not a conservative or liberal problem but a national problem. Over the last few decades we have not had a leader that unified the country they all tended to play to their bases. Both parties are guilty and by doing so the political divide keeps getting wider. Sadly I don't believe the Biden Harris team will do any better. All one can do is hope and plan on change the next election if needed.

first it was not a armed insurrection , god you dumb asses will claim anything it ws a protest and some of the people decided to riot no differnt then BLM riots except far less people killed or hurt
